Position: Welder/Fabricator

Location: Waukesha, WI

Reports to: Finishing Supervisor

Part I – Position Purpose

We are seeking a skilled welder/fabricator with expertise in TIG and Stick welding to join our metal casting foundry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding, metal fabrication, and working in an industrial setting. This position requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of casting sizes and fabrication methods.

Part II – Job Functions

  • Perform TIG and Stick welding on castings, ensuring high-quality welds in compliance with industry standards.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and weld steel components based on blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Inspect and prepare metal surfaces prior to welding, including grinding, cleaning, and cutting as needed.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct post-welding inspection to ensure the structural integrity and quality of welds.
  • Collaborate with foundry and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines in the welding and fabrication areas.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and report any issues or malfunctions.
  • Assist with general foundry tasks as needed, such as mold assembly, metal pouring, or other related duties.

Part III – Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in welding or related preferred, certification in TIG or Stick welding from a recognized welding body (e.g., AWS certification) is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of welding/fabrication experience with TIG/MIG and Stick
  • Knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and processes related to metal fabrication
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
  • Familiarity with welding standards, such as ASME or AWS.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in welding and fabrication methods
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy steel components and work in physically demanding environments.
  • Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Experience in foundry/metal casting, similar heavy industrial setting or related is a plus
