**Position Summary:**

At Childrens Aid, we believe that all kids have limitless potential. Our dedicated staff provide comprehensive supports for nearly 50,000 children and families in targeted, under-resourced New York City neighborhoods. We know what it takes to ensure children grow up strong and healthy, and ready to thrive in school and life: excellent education and health care, social-emotional support, and strong, stable families.

The facilitator is responsible for the supervision and care of (up to) 20 children, which comprise a group or club. A facilitator is a leader who commits to teaching by modeling and demonstrating characteristics that participants can learn from. The facilitator will work to support the Program Director by supporting afterschool staff with lesson planning, lesson implementation, curriculum design and training during and for the afterschool staff.

**Essential Duties:**

* Provide supervision and care of (up to) 15 middle school participants which comprise a group or club.

* Develop lesson plans aligned with the standards of project-based learning, teach, supervise, and organize games.

* Provide individual and group tutoring in areas such as reading, writing, mathematics, and study skills duringLearning Zone.

* Demonstrate and develop effective classroom and behavioral management skills.

* Communicate regularly with the Program Director and/or Education Coordinator in regard to lesson planning and implementation.

* Implement a professionally developed literacy-based curriculum.

* Help design and lead the implementation of special projects in and out of program.

* Assist in establishing, monitoring, and maintaining safe and respectful behavior of participants.

* Attend regular staff meetings, trainings and work cooperatively with other staff members in the program and in the schools.

* Assist in activities or tasks necessary to ensure an orderly operation of the program: supervise children during meals, ensuring equipment is properly signed out and that all equipment is properly cleaned and returned.

* Work cooperatively with other staff members of the program (may include late nights and/or weekends).

* Establish and maintain rapport with the students and parents.

* In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

** Minimum Qualifications:**

* High school diploma required

* At least one year of experience working with children, tutoring, or teaching.

**Key Competencies:**

* Work well in teams and in collaboration with other organizations and entities.

* Strong communication skills and well-organized.

* Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English, oral and written).

* Must be punctual, responsible, have a positive attitude and encourage children.
