To learn more about the benefits UT Southwestern offers visit . Job Summary UT Southwestern is in search of a skilled and experienced Facilities Assistant for our Landscape Services division. The Facilities Assistant plans, implements and assists departmental and divisional space, renovation projects and furniture and equipment orders and oversees installations. Performs landscaping duties and operates horticultural machinery; works in all weather conditions, considered an essential employee during inclement weather events. Helps clear the campus of ice, snow, and other weather-related debris. Work Location: Dallas Campus; travel to other sites as needed. Shift Requirement: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Minimum Experience and Education Requirements
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires two (2) years of work experience in the planning, coordinating and delivery of facilities management (Landscape Services) functions.
  • Facilities experience should include the following:
    • Familiarity with building maintenance, repairs, renovations, utility systems, housekeeping, security, safety, telecommunications, signage and key control.
    • Ground maintenance, ground keeping experience.
    • Working in all weather conditions.
    • Experienced with horticultural machinery including hedge trimmers, lawn mowers, blowers, pole saws, chain saws, 2 Cycle equipment.
    • Knowledge of planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs, seedlings, flowers, and lawns.
    • Big equipment experience: backhoe, uni-loader, trailers, etc. preferred, but not required.
  • Requires an active/valid Texas Driver License*.
*If area of employment requires use of a university-owned vehicle, employee will be required to possess a valid Texas Driver's License, pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check, and complete drivers training (or van training, if applicable), in accordance with UTS Policy 157, appendix B.     Job Duties
    • Procures, stages and installs equipment for renovations and departmental projects.
    • Ensures inventory control has cleared out all remaining items after move completion.
    • Submits requisitions related to major equipment, supplies and services for the department including establishing and managing contacts for service vendors (cable, linen, beverage service, shred it, biohazard, etc.).
    • Oversees delivery, storage, staging and install of all equipment.
    • Acts as fire safety coordinator or facilitator during fire drills and fire safety training events.
    • Submits service requests for Amb Ops, Amb Nursing Ops and Amb Med Practice along with any clinics requiring assistance.
    • Transport, pick-up and deliver sensitive, confidential and critical clinical and business equipment, survey sites for equipment and supply needs.
    • Travel between floors, buildings and clinics by motor vehicle and/or by foot to hand carry items to appropriate destination.
    • Transports certified mail to Park Cities.
    • Transports equipment and furnishings when needed.
    • Coordinates transportation of medications when needed.
    • Maintains monthly logs of travel and mileage and submit.
    • Deploys tabletop tents, posters, crates, etc. for promotional events in the clinics (Organizes collection upon completion).
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
