- High school diploma/GED
- A passing score of 70% or better on HFC test for Facilities Associates
The most successful candidate will have a career that reflects the following:
- Previous experience in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings (Preferred)
- Grounds keeping experience (Preferred)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to
- Keeps buildings and property in clean, orderly, and safe conditions.
- Performs seasonal building maintenance, including but not limited to floor refinishing, window washing, and deep cleaning.
- Performs routine custodial duties, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming and dusting.
- Scrubs, cleans, sanitizes and supplies restrooms.
- Removes snow and performs landscaping duties.
- Shampoos or steam cleans carpet and floors.
- Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
- Mixes cleaning supplies and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions and properly stores chemicals in accordance of the instructions of such chemicals.
- Uses caution and follows all safety rules and procedures when operating equipment
- Ensures proper use, storage, and maintenance of Facilities equipment, including but not limited to automatic floor machines, hand scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, backpack vacuums, KAI VAC touch-free cleaning systems, wet-vacs, tools, and grounds equipment.
- Ensures proper use and storage of chemicals used in cleaning and maintaining college buildings.
- Maintains a well-stocked, well organized, and complaint supply closet at all times, without exception.
- Changes lights as needed and for reporting electrical issues as needed. Responsible for understanding light changing and re-lamping procedures per employee handbook for facilities associates.
- Returns shared equipment, such as ladders, to designated storage area.
- Adheres to security procedures. Secures doors as required according to building hours.
- Performs extra assignments as required by management, including but not limited to covering areas open due to absence, furniture and equipment relocation and removal, event set-up and tear-down, and emergency response.
- Allows new substitute, temporary, or probationary employees to shadow them for training purposes, as assigned by management.
- Reports health and safety issues or building issues (such as those relating to plumbing or electrical issues and roof leaks) to management.
- Attends all mandatory training as assigned.
- Complies with all applicable rules, regulations, and policies of Henry Ford College. Employee is responsible for seeking clarification on such policies as needed.
- Works on teams as assigned by management.
- Climbs ladders and scaffolding as assigned by management.
- Other duties as assigned.
