ABOUT THE POSITION:
Urban Dove Team Charters is seeking a Facilities Manager to oversee building tasks, ensuring a safe and cost-effective environment. The ideal candidate will maximize space and manage resources while exhibiting strong leadership. Our goal is to ensure a seamless workspace for optimal employee performance from those within our Charter Management Office (CMO) in Long Island City.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
The Central Office is the non-profit entity that manages the Urban Dove Charter Schools. The CMO provides a wide range of services-including back office functions, accounting, hiring, professional development, data analysis, public relations, advocacy, and more. The CMO is also responsible for providing support structures for the schools and ensuring proper replication of the model as the organization expands.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversee all facility installations and refurbishments, including telecommunications, heating, and electricity.
* Ensure equipment and supplies are maintained according to health and safety regulations.
* Evaluate building structures for repair or renovation needs.
* Monitor utility consumption to reduce costs.
* Manage facilities staff and external contractors.
* Oversee allocation of resources like parking spaces and ensure proper waste disposal and building security.
* Distribute office space based on departmental needs.
* Manage insurance plans and oversee service and maintenance contracts.
* Maintain both financial and operational records.
* Conduct regular analysis and forecasting related to facilities.
Requirements
* Prior experience in a facilities management role.
* Proficiency in technical operations and knowledge of facilities management best practices.
* Basic understanding of accounting and finance.
* Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
* Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
* Solid analytical and critical thinking abilities.
* Basic handyman skills
