Job Description:
Job PurposeThe Facilities Attendant ensures a clean, safe, and dignified environment for our guests experiencing homelessness. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities with utmost care and attention to detail. By upholding highstandards of cleanliness and hygiene, you contribute directly to the well-being and comfort of our residents, promoting a sense of community and respect. Your work plays a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere where individuals in need can find refuge and support, fostering a community thatvalues compassion and care.Essential job Duties
  • Cleans and maintains common areas across the Siena Francis House campus including bathrooms, dorms, elevators, entry ways, kitchen areas, conference rooms, community rooms, hallways and staff offices.
  • Collaborate with the cleaning vendor to oversee daily facility cleaning operations, ensuring that the vendor's tasks are completed according to the standards outlined in their contract.
  • Support and mentor clients participating in the Miracles program who perform janitorial services in designated areas of the campus, promoting personal growth and skill development through their participation in cleaning activities.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, and mopping.
  • Sanitize and disinfect surfaces to prevent the spread of germs.
  • Manage waste removal and ensure proper disposal of trash.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, including restocking supplies.
  • Report maintenance issues or damages per agency policy and procedures.
  • Ensure all cleaning activities meet health and safety standards and comply with agency policies and regulations.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper maintenance of tools.
  • Maintain effective communication with management, vendors, and staff to address cleaning issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Uphold a welcoming and respectful environment for residents and staff, promoting dignity and compassion in all interactions.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to interacting with Siena Francis House clients and staff.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning practices and facility maintenance.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Proven experience in janitorial service.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred; additional certifications or training in facility management or janitorial services is a plus.
  • Experience operating within an emergency shelter environment and/or other type of homeless service provider preferred.
  • Other experience in the human services field will be taken into consideration.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a congregate setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels.
