The incumbent is responsible for ground maintenance work and ensures that the grounds or assigned areas including our residential homes and center are attractive, orderly, and safe to providea pleasant outdoor environment. Rate of Pay: $18.45 per hour Hours: Monday-Friday must be available between the hours of 6:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following and or other duties as assigned.
- Provide direct support by coaching, delegating tasks, and working as a facility crew member for adults living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Instruct, coordinate, and supervise clients with landscaping and groundskeeping activities.
- Pass and maintain a Department of Transportation (DOT) certification to safely transport clients to and from the day program and outside activities/events; follow all traffic laws.
- Transport individuals safely to and from the WCDC center and work sites.
- Load and prepare all tools, gas, and other necessary equipment/materials.
- Secure all equipment safely.
- Perform and manage landscaping and maintenance tasks on assigned properties.
- Work in conjunction with the Facilities & Fleet Director to ensure that all work is implemented efficiently and according to specifications.
- Prepare equipment for required daily tasks.
- Perform all groundskeeping tasks to include, but not limited to, mowing, line trimming, blowing, leaf and debris removal, weeding, edging, hedging, raking and mulch installation.
- Assist with set up/breakdown of classrooms, offices, residential houses, hallways, restrooms, and other common areas.
- Effectively use safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment independently and with individuals on the crew.
- Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas.
- Operate cleaning machinery such as floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners, vacuum, and buffer.
- Maintain the cleanliness of WCDC vehicles, to include buses, vans, etc.
- Assist with janitorial duties when outside work is unavailable.
- Maintain formal and informal communications with supervisor, keeping them aware of activities and concerns with the program, and follows the chain of command.
- Inventory and report all materials used based on established timelines or guidelines.
- Review jobs for the week and prepare for the next day's job.
- Load/unload equipment and material, clean out truck/trailer by removing trash, debris, etc. daily.
- Maintain the cleanliness of WCDC equipment prior to returning to its designated location.
- Report damage or broken equipment to the manager based on established timelines or guidelines.
RequirementsQualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years old, with a valid driver's license, and approved to transport clients. License may not be Provisionals and have a driving record that reflects responsibility and maturity. Complete all DDA Core Training successfully.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
- Detailed oriented and thorough.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
- Ability to interact with staff, clients, and visitors while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience required.
- At least 1-2 years of Human Services experience preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of groundskeeping/landscaping experience preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must be able to stand and walk 90% of work time; sit and/or drive 10%. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 60 pounds; must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach. All of the requirements are necessary in order to properly supervise and assist individuals with disabilities. Should be able to climb stairs/ladder and have good balance.
