  • Performs a variety of woodworking tasks.
Job Duties:
  • Alter, repair, inspect, and construct articles and structures of wood, including partitions, counters, doors, window frames, scaffolds, forms, and fences.
  • Construct and repair furniture, equipment, and wooden fixtures.
  • Fit and install doors, windows, and screens.
  • Repair roofs, removing and replacing plywood, overhangs, and facing boards.
  • Operate saws, lathes, planers, shapers, joiners, sanders, band saws, and other woodworking equipment.
  • Sharpen, maintain, and service hand and machine tools and various woodworking equipment.
  • Order, inspect, and maintain an inventory of lumber and supplies.
  • Estimate labor and material needed.
  • Keeps workplace clean, leaves work sites in better condition than when arrived.
  • Fully documents work order steps, enters log notes, condition, and makes recommendations for improved maintenance.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good condition; plans and organizes assignments effectively.
  • Maintain record of work performed and materials used.
  • Present a professional, positive, and helpful attitude at all times when interacting with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles. Perform pick up of supplies and or materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Safety Requirements:
  • Complies with and actively participate in the GCR Occupational Safety & Health Program.
  • Perform all assigned work in a safe and reasonable manner that avoids preventable injury and preventable property/equipment damage to you, co-workers, Customers, the Company, and/or the public.
  • Safely performs functions of the position including proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout and wearing PPE as required.
  • Through leadership and personal example, exemplify a personal commitment to and support of the Company/Project Safety Culture.
  • Monitor subordinate safety compliance, ensuring safety is integral part of all work activities.
  • Take appropriate corrective action (stop-work, remedial training, disciplinary action, etc.) when subordinates fail comply with established OSH policies & procedures in order to prevent recurrence.
  • Immediately report all occupational injuries, unsafe conditions, and/or property damage.
  • Use and enforce the wearing of personal protective equipment.
  • Always wear a seatbelt while operating/riding in a company vehicle, or a privately-owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Never talk on the phone without hand free option or text message while operating in a company vehicle or a privately-owned vehicle while performing work activities or acting as an agent of the Company.
  • Not be unfit for work due to the presence, ingestion, consumption or inhalation of illegal drugs, prescribed medications, over-the-counter drugs and/or alcohol.
Machines, Tools and Equipment Used:
  • Hand and power tools.
  • Ladders, scaffolds, and manlifts.
  • Small power equipment (wet vacs, power washers, etc.)
  • Diagnostic test equipment.
  • Hand and power tools.
Mandatory:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance/Base Access.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Submit to and successfully pass Pre-employment Drug Screening and Background Check.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Carpenters License.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the Carpenter trades.
  • Valid State Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in extreme work environments, such as heat, cold, heights, confined spaces, excessive noise, etc.
  • Possess a valid State driver's license issued and have reliable transportation.
  • Be able to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in the English language.
  • Basic computer skills, to include the ability to use software programs such as Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Be physically cable of performing the physical requirements of the position on a daily basis. Able to work a non-traditional work week, to include evenings, weekends and/or Holidays as work demands dictate and/or directed by the Project Manager/Annex Manager/Superintendent.
Preferred:
  • Prior military or experience working on Government Contracts.
  • Associates Degree.
  • OSHA 10 certification.
  • Current universal EPA certification.
