- 1 to 3 years of prior experience in the maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Possess and maintain a valid IL Driver's License with good driving record.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of general carpentry, painting, and repair.
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, sit, and lift/move up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to perform work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
JOB GOAL: Maintains district buildings, equipment and property to ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and working environment for staff. Performs remodeling and new construction tasks including the plumbing, electrical and mechanical utilities as needed. REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities and Maintenance PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts routine inspections of premises and equipment.
- Performs carpentry, electrical, painting, mechanical and plumbing
- maintenance and repairs such as repairing furniture, constructing shelves, installing switches, replacing plugs and other basic appliance repairs, applying paint and other finishes, repairing drywall, disassembling and reassembling equipment, replacing sinks and toilets and applying finishing
- Performs preventative maintenance and basic repairs to buildings and facilities.
- Repairs machines, equipment, building fixtures, and structures.
- May participate in the movement of furniture, supplies and material.
- May participate in the setup and tear-down of event furniture, such as tables, chairs and tents.
- Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
- Complies with all safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
- Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
- Applies all applicable OSHA and related local safety requirements to all assigned work.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The individual will need to provide own transportation to district. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to keep regular schedules and perform special tasks as assigned. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board policies. SALARY: Salary determined by collective bargaining agreement between the Mundelein Educational Support Association and the Mundelein Consolidated School District 120 Board of Education.
