Job Summary:Under the direction of the Facilities and Maintenance Managers this position is responsible for daily operation and maintenance of the physical plant, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, steam generation/sterilization, plumbing and mechanical systems, general buildingmaintenance, and grounds keeping. Reports to: Facilities and Maintenance ManagersEssential Job Functions:
Operates and maintains the physical plant to ensure proper functioning of mechanical systems and safety of the environment of carePerforms daily rounds of hospital facility and rounds on and off campus sites weekly. Utilizes BAS and other monitoring systems to ensure proper functioning of plant systemsProactively initiates repairs, maintenance and cleaning. Generates work worders accordingly.Works independently within established procedures associated with the job function.Under the direction of the Facilities and Maintenance Managers complies with Life Safety and Fire Safety codes and regulations.All required Life/Fire Safety inspections are tracked and recorded in work order system.Interim Life Safety Measures are implemented as indicated for scheduled and unscheduled repair and maintenance.Performs work in compliance with infection control risk assessment requirements.Utilizes electronic system of work order entry and trackingDocuments work order status and completion through ASH's work order management system. Performs all scheduled maintenance to ensure completion date due.Initiates and completes miscellaneous projects including painting, drywall, installation of fixtures or equipment, moving furniture or equipment, or as assigned by Facilites and Maintenance Managers. MeetingsAttends regularly scheduled facilities and biomedical meetingsAssists with coordination of services contracted for inspections, repair, maintenance or installation of all physical plant systems and infrastructure and biomedical equipment.Documents contracted services work in work order system and/or Environment of Care and Life Safety documentation tools. Maintains compliance with all regulations for disposal of regulated medical and pharmaceutical waste. SchedulingCoordinates with facilities team to provide 24/7 emergency maintenance and biomedical equipment call schedule.Adjusts schedule accordingly to perform work on weekends and after hours. At the direction and guidance of the Facilities and Maintenance Managers or Senior leadership, performs additional duties and responsibilities related to plant operations and environment of care. Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through wors and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs and the working environment.Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position. Minimum 3 years Facilities Maintenance Technician experience preferred. Physical RequirementsThis position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to (50) pounds in routine material handling, stocking and redistributions process. Arm, hand, wrist, finger coordination required in order to utilize tools and computer keyboard and mouse. Must be able to hear, speak and see in order to perform listed duties and tasks.Working Conditions/Environmental ExposuresEnvironmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical waste, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts within work areas.
