As our Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing needed maintenance and repairs at all SouthLight facility locations in Raleigh, Durham and Fayetteville.

This position will perform tasks related to the maintenance of building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems as well as scheduled and preventive maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Technician serves as the primary point of contact for afterhours repairs.

Pay

Starting pay is $21.00 per hour.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 4pm.

Full-time employees are eligible for medical benefits the first of the month 30 days after hire date. Options for a standard plan and an HSA plan with a $300 initial contribution and up to a $25 per paycheck match. 10 paid holidays and PTO hours which accrue at a rate of 10 hours per month. After 6 months employees are eligible to enroll in our 401(k) plan which has a 4% match. Company paid life insurance, short and long term disability, in house and paid training opportunities, and additional pay for working holidays. SouthLight provides mileage reimbursement.

Job Responsibilities of a Facilities Maintenance Technician

* Responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing needed maintenance and repairs at all SouthLight facility locations

* Addresses interior and exterior repairs at all Southlight locations by use of safe operation of hand, power tools and other equipment

* Conducts routine preventative maintenance on building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems

* Supports Facilities Operation Manager in conducting property inspections by gathering data and reporting on visible issues

* Coordinate and collaborate with Facilities Operation Manager regarding all repairs that may require the assistance of an outside contractor/vendor

* Serves as the primary point of contact for after-hour emergency repair needs

* Supports Facilities Operation Manager with oversight of SouthLight's vehicle fleet inspections, maintenance and repairs

* Assists with on-site special events including set up and clean up

* Ensure adherence to operational and safety procedures, and compliance with regulatory agencies/standards

Qualifications of a Facilities Maintenance Technician

Educational and Experience

* HS diploma or GED equivalent

* Min 2 years of experience in construction, building, mechanical, electrical and/or plumbing

* Trade schooling and/or certificate in mechanical maintenance or similar area a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Professional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

* Knowledge of hand and power tools, materials, and methods used in general maintenance work

* Ability and physical strength sufficient to move objects

* Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods

* Commitment to strong customer service focus rooted in empathy

* Organizational skills to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, develop and carry-out project assignments in an efficient and timely manner and to provide accurate and succinct documentation of activities

* Comfortable with MS Office Suite and windows-based applications

* Ability to interact effectively with persons of widely diverse roles, backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic classes, those in crises or resistant or negative toward organization
