Shift: Tuesday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (40 hours/week)Shift: Monday - Thursday 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (40 hours/week)Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIESSkilled work in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of air conditioning,heating, ventilation and refrigeration equipment and systems including, but not limited to, directexpansion air conditioning units and systems, both unitary and split systems, walk-in freezers and coolers, reach-in freezers and coolers, ice machines, and household type refrigerators. Skilled in the fabrication and installation of fiberglass duct. Repairs and services heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration units, systems and associated equipment. Tests refrigeration equipment for leaks in refrigerant. Repairs, maintains and adjusts pumps, valves, piping connections, fittings and couplings. Fabricate and install fiberglass duct work. Maintains maintenance and repair records as required. Maintains refrigerant usage logs as required.Performs related duties as required.KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLSKnowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.Basic operating knowledge of pneumatic control systems and direct digital control systems. Basic knowledge of single and three phase electrical circuitry pertaining to the trade. Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools commonly utilized in repair, troubleshooting and service of heating, air conditioning, ventilation and refrigeration equipment and systems.Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair deficiencies in heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems. Ability to see colors, to drive from work site to work site to inspect and provide maintenance and repair work on various heating, air conditioning, ventilation, refrigeration equipment and systems. Ability to bend, stoop, sit, and stand. Must be able to lift and carry materials/equipment that are a minimum of five (5) lbs. and greater with the average weight being forty five (45) lbs. Ability to concentrate on detail and sequential work tasks. Ability to perform task that require eye and hand coordination including steadiness of hand. Must not have any known allergies that will react to chemicals and solvents utilized.Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language. Ability to do simple math. Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications and operating manuals.Ability to operate a computer to access HVAC control systems. Ability to independently detect, inspect, verify, recognize, and recommend solutions and or take remedial actions for work efforts.Ability to think and react calmly and responsively to emergency situations.Skills in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems.Ability to work in all weather and environmental conditions (i.e.: sun, rain, cold, and dirt.)Ability to maintain records. Must be capable of doing gas welding, brazing, etc. Must be able to work in confined areas.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSGraduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and have aminimum of five (5) years' experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, airconditioning and refrigeration equipment and systems. Must possess or obtain a Universal Refrigeration Certification as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Such certification must be obtained within six (6) months of starting this job. Failure to obtain certification may result in termination of employment.Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications with the exception of licensure and certifications.Must be able to pass a national background check, mandated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, to include on-line security training.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust have home telephone as employee is subject to emergency call out and stand by.This position may be required to report for work when a declaration of emergency has been declared in Polk County.SPECIAL PREFERENCEPrefer applicants with Journeyman level knowledge and experience.
