Job Summary
- Full time position Mon-Fri (4:30 p.m.-1:00 a.m.), may be subject to change
- Assist all visitors and contractors checking in and out
- Strong interpersonal skills that include good judgment and flexibility, to relate to scientific and research staff, faculty, executive management and administrative staff
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct building rounds and ensure the building and doors are secure
- Bulk LN2 and CO2 tank/level checks
- Move and fill LN2 dewars
- Ensure all visitors and contractors are here for business purposes and escorted
- Monitor and drain sinks and sumps as required
- Turn lights off in unoccupied areas
- Minor patch/painting, repair work, light bulb changing, light mechanical, and furniture assembly and set-up
- Assist with ensuring the atrium, patios, and other areas are cleared from events for the following workday
- Assist with small office moves
- Place folding chairs and tables for set-up of minor events
- Monitor and provide quality control on janitorial staff and monitor security staff in various technical areas
Leveling Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in the above duties
- High school graduate/GED
- Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, G-Suite, and general computer skills
- Satisfactory completion of the Institute's background investigation
- Satisfactory completion of the post-offer physical required
- Must be willing to sign an employee confidentiality agreement
- Regular, reliable, on-time attendance and reliable transportation
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Must be able to adjust a regularly assigned work schedule based on workload
- Possess a valid California driver's license and ability to run errands for the Institute
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds easily
- Must be able to use and work on step stool/ladder and work from heights
- Must have manual dexterity in both hands
- Must be able to bend down and/or stoop repeatedly throughout the workday
- Must be able to pull carts that could require a rolling starting force of 125 lbs
- Must be able to open doors and pull loaded supply carts through hallways and into and out of elevators.
