Position Summary:
- Safety is paramount in everything we do. This role is part of the facilities team, which isan integral part of our Technical Services department.
- As a member of the facilities team, you will play a major role in the success of our resort and have one of the most important responsibilities throughout the park.
- You must always provide and guarantee a fun and safe environment for our guests with a focus on safety, ensuring that our equipment and buildings are inspected, maintained, and repaired to the highest levels possible.
- As a Painter you will inspect, repair, and troubleshoot various buildings and ground surfaces in our facilities.
- This includes painting, pressure washing, drywall repair, carpentry finish work, and fiberglass repair. Displays a great imagination to create, design, build, and paint various objects for the theme park.
- Performs other maintenance functions within theme park and assists other maintenance MCs as deemed necessary by supervision.
Main Responsibilities:
- Works with various types of painting; spray paint, roll, brush, airless sprayer.
- Proficient with pressure washing and other painting equipment.
- Responsible for all aspects of painting, finish, texture, and stain.
- Works from blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions to obtain dimensions and finish specifications.
- Operates various types of painting machines and equipment safely.
- Performs repairs on objects and matches paint colors.
- Makes certain that all work assigned is complete and of good sound workmanship.
- Advises working supervisor and/or management of any discrepancies in design and dimensions on assigned projects.
- Knowledge of OSHA, state and county codes.
- Requisitions material and equipment needed for fiberglass and paint projects.
- Recognizes equipment that needs repair, replacing, or adjusting.
- Keeps Park paint and various props in good appearance.
- Keeps safety as #1 priority.
- Submits estimates of time, labor and materials for pending assignments. Submits and completes work order assignments.
- Stays informed and updated on modern techniques and technical methods.
- Attends weekly staff meetings for purpose of directing, informing and training.
- Responds to emergency calls within theme park, expediting repairs to ensure guest and fellow Model Citizen safety and comfort at all times.
- Follows LEGOLAND and Merlins policies and procedures at all times.
- Liaison with fellow maintenance Model Citizens and other departments.
Health & Safety:
- Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guests (where appropriate), in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law.
- In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake, and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained.
- Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate.
Physical Demands:
- Work in hard to access areas such as uneven terrain and confined spaces.
- Requires the use of safety goggles, gloves, ear plugs, respiratory devices and all other PPE when appropriate.
- Frequent lifting of moderate to heavy loads (25 70lbs). Required to lift and move loads with uneven weight distribution.
- Ability to sit for sustained periods of time to attend on-site and off-site meetings, perform paperwork activities, travel, and drive.
- Intermittent and prolonged standing and walking to move about the park site and interact with employees.
- Hear with surrounding distracting noises. Noise level to possibly exceed 85 decibels.
- Finger dexterity sufficient to complete paperwork activities and to use a computer.
- Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials, to complete paperwork activities, and to drive.
- Hearing sufficient to communicate with individuals in person and by telephone.
- Work all hours, rotating schedules to include weekends and holidays.
- Maintain excellent physical condition with no restrictions on lifting, bending or respiratory actions.
- Stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Climb to high places and perform work and inspection in difficult locations.
- Hear with surrounding distracting noises.
- Work in extreme hot and cold conditions.
- Present in a neat, well-groomed professional manner.
Work Environment:
- Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
- Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
Other Job Requirements:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and weekends to support park operations.
- Must have valid drivers license, safe driving record.
- Attendance is a mandatory function of this job.
Qualifications & Experience:
Background and Experience:
Must have 2 years of experience in painting, pressure washing, fiberglass work, finish carpentry work, drywall repair. including airless sprayer. Knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used to repair and maintain theme park buildings, attractions, etc. is preferred. Requires experience in detailing, refinishing and maintaining painted objects and props for the park. Ability to read, evaluate and correspondence and basic math skills are required. A friendly, polite and customer service-oriented demeanour is required. Requires the ability to follow supervisors directions effectively with the ability to observe and remember details.
Education:
High school graduate or General Education Degree (or equivalent education and experience) is preferred.
Pay Range:From USD $17.64/Hr.
