Job Description:

Position Summary

As the Facilities Repair Worker-Advanced, you will perform a variety of maintenance and repairs on institution buildings and related equipment. Included are wood, metal, and masonry repairs; painting; carpentry; and roof repairs. This position may be responsible for directing and instructing patient worker activity.

Salary Information

The starting pay will be $23.69 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/12.

Job Details

All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

This position has physical requirements which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 50 pounds, twisting, bending, crawling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Applicants will be required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

This position requires the ability to drive a state vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy, which are:

State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy:

* Must have a valid driver's license.

* Minimum of two year's driving experience.

* Must be 18 years of age of older.

Additionally, the driving record must not reflect the following conditions:

* Three or more moving violations and/or at fault accidents in the past two years.

* An OWI or DUI violation within the past 12 months.

* A suspension or revocation of the driver's license.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.

* Ability to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime or extra hours as needed.

* Experience operating grounds and snow removal equipment (e.g., zero turn mowers, tractors, skid/end loaders, tillers, trimmers, snow blowers, boom/scissor lifts, snowplow, truck salt spreaders, etc.).

* Training or experience performing minor remodeling or improvement projects on residential or commercial buildings (e.g., basic cabinetry, masonry, roofing, painting, minor plumbing, repairing doors and hardware, etc.).

Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:

* Experience record keeping of all supplies and orders related to auto and grounds inventory.

* Experience with construction building maintenance.
