Position Summary

As a FRW-A, you will be responsible for performing maintenance on the building structure and hardware at WRC, including the installation and repair of institute doors, locks, walls, ceilings, flooring (carpeted, tiled, wooden, or concrete) windows, screens, roofs, and other building hardware and equipment. Additional responsibilities include:

* Replacing filters, belts and moving gates.

* plowing snow, light vehicle operations, grounds work to include weed spraying and grass cutting, floor care, installing doors, locks; as well as other construction needs.

* Designing, building and repairing cabinets and furniture.

* Security of tools, parts, and keys.

At times, you will also be expected to coordinate the activities of other maintenance FRW's, Limited Term Employee's and resident workers.

Salary Information

The starting pay for this position is $23.69 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required.

Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 03/12.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by WRC or medical personnel approved by the facility within 30 days of the start date.

This position requires the ability to drive a State vehicle. In order to become authorized to drive a State vehicle, you must meet the requirements for the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle policy, which are:

* Must have a valid driver's license;

* Must have minimum of two years licensed driving experience;

* Must be 18 years of age.

Additionally, your driving record MUST NOT reflect any of the following conditions:

* Three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents in the past two years;

* Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)/Driving Under the Influence (DUI) citation within the past 12 months;

* Suspension or revocation of driver's license.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:

* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the State of Wisconsin Fleet Vehicle Policy to drive a state vehicle.

* Experience with general repair and maintenance of buildings or grounds (e.g., operating power tools, repairing locks and doors, removing snow, etc.)

* Ability to work additional hours in the event of emergencies, such as snowstorms.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

* Experience serving in a leadership role.

* Experience working collaboratively with other staff.
