Position Objective The Facilities Crew Member is responsible for the maintenance of all grounds, roads, vehicles, boats, buildings and utilities on Carolina Creek property. He/she is responsible to model a genuine lifestyle of Christian discipleship, nurturing spiritual growth of staff in a manner consistent with Carolina Creek's mission, vision and values. Job Type

Key Job Accountabilities
  • Complete daily assignments in a safe manner, always using appropriate safety equipment.
  • Maintain the interior and exterior of all camp-owned buildings including walkways and porch areas.
  • Maintain the areas around, and the utilities (water, electric, etc.) supporting the outdoor facilities used for recreation and adventure activities including, but not limited to, pools, waterfronts, the cable park, ropes courses, teams courses, athletic fields, pavilions, courts, trails, etc. in accordance with good stewardship practices and the requirements of licensing agencies and third-party providers of best practices for safety and operations.
  • Remove dangerous trees and/or limbs and keep outside areas mowed and looking clean and well-kept.
  • Assist in the repair/diagnosis of mechanical malfunctions of company-owned or leased automobiles, boats, trailers, and heavy machinery.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all vehicles including but not limited to oil changes, tire rotation/repair, fluid-level checking, etc.
  • Maintain all company-owned tools, power tools, and equipment in accordance with safety and good stewardship practices.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and events.
  • Share in the responsibilities of keeping camp areas and equipment clean, including preparing for the arrival of groups.
  • Actively participate in, and contribute to, the broader camp programs of Carolina Creek.
  • Other duties as assigned that support the mission of Carolina Creek including but not limited to participating in work projects with volunteers or work crews doing landscaping, power-washing, painting, etc. Generally being available to do whatever is needed with a joyful heart as unto the Lord.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Facilities Supervisor.
  • May assist in supervising seasonal staff and/or student workers for specific projects
QualificationsEducation/Certifications/Licenses
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must have AED, First Aid and CPR (infant, child, and adult) certifications.
  • Must also have a current valid driver's license.
  • Job specific certifications are preferred
Work Experience
  • Experience working in building maintenance, or construction preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing automobiles and marine motors preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and various power tools preferred, but not required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be safety-minded, following all rules and taking a personal interest in his/her own safety.
  • Must have a good understanding of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, lawn care, construction, etc.
  • Must be very comfortable and competent working with dangerous equipment including but not limited to power tools, heavy machinery, etc.
  • Must be flexible with an ability to adjust and problem-solve in challenging situations.
  • Must be willing and able to use technology such as radios and smartphones to communicate verbally as well as via texts and email.
  • Must be able to effective communicate in English, both verbally and written
Physical Demands: The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in hot and humid conditions. Requires sitting, standing, squatting, stooping, twisting, hiking long distances on varied terrain, shouting, ability to lift/carry anywhere from 15 to over 90 lbs., and engaging in difficult and exhausting manual labor. Must be able to see with his/her eyes, hear with his/her ears, and use arms and hands to operate tools and equipment. The position also requires the ability to drive a vehicle with passengers.   • Satisfactory completion of background investigation, as well as ability to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
