Salary : $69,966.00 - $89,310.00 AnnuallyLocation : Fresno County, CAJob Type: PermanentJob Number: 24-0198Department: Internal ServicesOpening Date: 10/23/2024Closing Date: 11/1/2024 4:00 PM PacificPosition DescriptionScheduled Salary Increase:3% effective 11/11/24 ($72,072 - $92,040 Annually) APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE ONLYThe Department of Internal Services has an exceptional career opportunity available for experienced construction and maintenance management professionals interested in a position as a Facilities Specialist (Building Maintenance Specialist).Under general supervision, Facilities Specialist are responsible for planning, monitoring, and coordinating various construction and maintenance projects, which include assisting with budgeting, using specialized maintenance management computer software to prepare cost estimates, and initiating job orders; conducting inspections of County buildings, facilities, and/or mechanical support equipment to determine necessary maintenance and repair; inspecting and certifying the construction, alteration, or repair of County buildings and facilities to ensure conformance with pertinent codes, ordinances, and regulations; and recommending priorities for work completion.Note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities. Fresno County detention facilities are No Hostage facilities. This means in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release.Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Samples of DutiesKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum QualificationsApplicants must qualify under one (1) of the options listed below:OPTION 1: Experience: Six (6) years of full-time, paid work experience in one of the following trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, locksmithing, HVAC-R, or electrical.Substitution: Possession of a Commercial Combination Inspector Certificate, issued by the International Code Council (ICC), may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience. OPTION 2:Experience: Six (6) years of full-time, paid experience in the administration and coordination of construction, facility maintenance, or capital improvement projects.Substitution: Possession of a bachelor's degree that is acceptable within the United States' accredited college or university system in Facilities or Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field, may substitute for four (4) years of the required experience ORPossession of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI), may substitute for two (2) years of the required experience.In addition to the options listed above, the following is also required:License: Possession of a valid Class C driver's license, or equivalent.Certificate: Incumbents in this classification who qualified without possession of a Commercial Combination Inspector Certificate must obtain and maintain a valid certificate as a Commercial Building Inspector AND one (1) additional certificate as a Commercial Inspector in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical, issued by the International Code Council or other recognized authority, as determined by Fresno County Human Resources within the probationary period or be rejected while on probation.
