Job Description:
Upper Midwest family seeks a skilled and experienced Facilities / Grounds Maintenance Specialist to support the daily running and care of their main residence, multi-acre grounds, guest houses and other structures. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and/or farm, horticulture, grounds, and landscaping practices, with the ability to operate high-level equipment and machinery. The individual will report directly to the estates Land and Farm Manager contributing to a team environment while also being capable of working independently. This position consists of a five-day flex workweek, with flexibility for early or late hours as needed and requested.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Complete work requested as assigned by land and farm manager
- Troubleshoot and maintain estate's HVAC, AV, Electrical and Plumbing systems
- Snow removal
- Tend to grounds area focusing on aesthetic and functional purposes
- Maintain large areas of fields
- Walk the property daily and identify potential areas of concern
- Assist in maintaining yard equipment, tools, and outdoor household items
- Review and complete daily work requests by senior managers
- Liaise with vendors and internal team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Pick up debris, trash, leaves and ensure areas are clean, safe, and visually appealing
- Help take care of general farm animals and structures
- Additional facilities / grounds responsibilities as needed and requested
Requirements:
- Fluent in English; exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Minimum 2-3+ years related experience
- Knowledge of farm, forestry, horticulture, grounds, irrigation systems, and/or landscaping techniques/practices a PLUS
- Experience in general exterior and interior facilities maintenance a MUST
- Must possess general knowledge used to maintain, operate, trouble-shoot and/or repair household systems such as HVAC, AV, Smart Home, electrical and plumbing
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be physically able to bend, kneel, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. at a time
- Understanding and knowledge of high-level equipment machinery
- Experience with livestock a plus
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a positive team environment
- High attention to detail
- Able to travel to other local properties
- Flexibility in 5-day schedule with the willingness to work extended hours, including mornings and evenings
- Discreet with the ability to always maintain a high level of confidentially
- Experience handling large scale equipment and machinery
- Valid Driver's License with clean driving record
- Legally able to work in the United States
Compensation: $65k-75k per year
