Job DescriptionFacilities StaffStatus: Part-time, less than 20 hours/week; non-exemptReports To: Facilities ManagerSchedule: Evenings and weekendsSupervises: N/AOur Facilities team is responsible for ensuring that Longy's buildings and grounds are clean, safe and well-maintained. You must be a team player and available to work early morning and evening shifts as necessary.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Open the buildings in the morning and/or close them at night depending on scheduled shits.
  • Dust, mop, and vacuum the school's lobbies, classrooms, practice rooms, offices and performance spaces regularly.
  • Clean and stock bathrooms and kitchens with soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
  • Empty all trash receptacles daily, including common areas & offices.
  • Empty office and common area recycling into exterior recycling bins every day.
  • Take large trash bins to curb for weekly pick-up; recycling every two weeks.
  • Replace burnt out light bulbs in a timely fashion.
  • Handle minor repairs and construction projects including painting.
  • Transport equipment and supplies as needed (heavy lifting may be required).
  • Inform the Facilities Manager when janitorial and maintenance supplies become low and assist in ensuring list for re-ordering in always up to date.
  • Alert the Facilities Manager to any special maintenance or repair needs or hazardous conditions.
  • Keep both Longy and adjacent public sidewalks safe and clear of litter and weeds.
  • Keep parking lots clear of leaves and other debris as needed.
  • Snow removal from walkways, stairs, driveways and public sidewalks.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and other facilities items are properly stored.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Good organizational, time management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and have a positive attitude.
  • One year of responsible experience in building maintenance preferred
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, primarily in English, and comfortable with email communications.
  • Must be comfortable on a ladder.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
