  • Plans, coordinates and schedules custodial activities, ensures staffing levels are met, adjusts custodial assignments to accommodate absences, ensures appropriate daily cleaning of Airport facilities is achieved .
  • Trains custodial staff on a regular basis in procedures and in proper use of all aspects of the job.
  • Identifies and recommends the type and quantity of supplies, chemicals, and equipment to be used by custodial staff.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance is performed on custodial equipment.
  • Supervises evening shift maintenance activities involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, masonry, and day-to-day custodial services in all Airport Authority buildings.
  • Assists with coordination of maintenance activities for the operation, repair, maintenance and construction of safe and efficient Airport facilities, buildings, building systems, mechanical equipment, and grounds.
  • Inspects facilities to determine repairs, replacements or improvements required.
  • Involved with union dealings, employee disputes, grievances, and contract related matters.
  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Required to be physically on-site during snow events to coordinate snow removal.
  • Work with members of the public in matters related to Airport property.
  • Promote preventive maintenance on landside facilities, and ensures safe operations within the Department, through instruction and on the job training.
QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid driver's license required and maintained that meets insurance requirements.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of experience performing custodial/maintenance work and supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of Federal and PA State regulations, including ADA requirements, and OSHA and indoor quality control standards.
  • Knowledge of the methods, practices and techniques used in the maintenance, repair and construction of buildings, facilities, equipment, and custodial practices, knowledge of airport facilities a plus.
  • Knowledge of pertinent building and fire codes as related to facilities, knowledge of airport facilities a plus.

  • Must be able to plan and supervise the work of multiple subordinates.
  • Must be able to understand and implement the practices and principles of airport maintenance standards under FAR Part 139, FAR Part 77, TSR Part 1542 and other federal, state, and local rules, regulations and standards governing airport operations and maintenance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk; move legs, arms, wrists, and fingers.
  • Must be able to descend to and ascend from a kneeling or crouched position.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 75 lbs. and use a cart, dolly, ladder, or forklift.
  • Must have sufficient visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses to identify colors, read plans, blueprints; visually detect damage, deterioration or defects in airport and airfield structures, fixtures and furnishings which could potentially impact safe operations.
  • Visual acuity includes close, distance, peripheral, and change of focus and reading.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English.
  • Must have sufficient auditory ability, with or without audiological devices, to decipher telephone communications, interact with the public and others, decipher radio communications, hear alarms, including vehicle and other warning signals.
  • Must be able to operate a motorized vehicle and be able to access all areas of Authority facilities.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to temperatures ranging from -20o F to 100oF; dirt, dust, pollen, and other airborne particulates; and inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to airplane fuels, degreasers, de-icers and other chemicals commonly used in operating areas of airports.
  • This position may be subject to loud noise, heat, fumes, humidity, and occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and bodily fluids. Must be able to tolerate exposure to noise levels up to 120 decibels and work in close proximity to 480-volt power sources.
  • Must be available for night, holiday, weekend, rotating or irregular shift assignments.
  • Must be able to occasionally work rotating shifts to provide required coverage.
