For more than 50 years, First Choice Community Healthcare has provided access to high quality primary medical, dental, and behavioral healthcare to the underserved populations of the Mid-Rio Grande Valley of central New Mexico. Today, we operate seven (7) Community Health Centers and one (1) school-based clinic. We are currently recruiting for a Community Health Worker to join our team and assist in fulfilling our organizations mission, which is to improve the health, life skills and wellbeing of all members of the communities we serve. A. Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Health Center manager serves as a security guard against fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry,

B. Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Patrols, periodically, buildings and grounds of Clinic site.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles, and apprehends or expels miscreants.
  • Inspects equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Observe departing personnel to guard against theft of company property.
  • Sounds alarm or calls police or fire department by telephone in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
  • Permits authorized persons to enter property.
  • May record data, such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment, for use of supervisory staff.
  • May perform janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
  • Performs maintenance including but not limited to keeping grounds clean, picking up trash, straightening furniture and cleaning up spills etc.
  • Interacts with County personnel, Facilities Technician, and/or Facilities Supervisor.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:

    C. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or GED certificate;
  • Three months experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities;
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred
  • D. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • CPR Certification with in six months of employment.
  • E. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Ability to speak Spanish (preferred).
  • Ability to understand verbal instructions.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.

    G. COVID-19 VACCINE REQUIRED

    H. PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS/WORKING CONDITIONS

    A person in this position has sufficient time to complete most tasks although under pressure depending on patient and organization demands. There are frequent opportunities to relax from any physical exertion or to change position in work activities.

  • Physical Effort and Dexterity: Good dexterity to operate cleaning and custodial equipment. Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment required to be operated: Capable of using power equipment to buff and restore floors and shampoo carpets.
  • Visual Acuity, Hearing, and Speaking: Must be able to read and write. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
  • Environment/Working Conditions: Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions Work regularly scheduled Monday-Friday, although weekends may be required to meet deadlines.
