Overview Mount Marty University is accepting applications for a Facilities Tech 1. This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefit eligible role. The Facilities Tech I will be committed to establishing and maintaining a safe, clean, attractive and effective physical environment for the campus community, as well as to provide high quality service and support in a cost-effective and timely manner.
Duties and Responsibilities - Performs a variety of cleaning to ensure sanitary conditions are met to a level that floors and base molding shine and/or are bright and clean; colors are fresh, no buildup in corners or along walls, all vertical and horizontal surfaces have a freshly cleaned or polished appearance and have no accumulation of dust, dirt, marks, streaks, smudges, or fingerprints, lights all work and fixtures are clean, washroom and shower fixtures and tile gleam and are odor free, supplies are adequate, trash containers are clean and odor free.
- Scrubs, mops, waxes and polishes floors using dry and wet mops, wax applicators, buffers, and floor machines.
- Perform basic routine and preventive maintenance on facilities such as re-lamping fixtures, snow removal, ceiling tile replacement, painting, snow removal, filter changes, clearing drains, and general repairs.
- Moves and arranges furniture.
- Conduct work in a safe, productive, and environmentally friendly manner.
- Be familiar and comply with the safety regulations and use safety equipment which apply to tools and chemicals you work with.
- Work overtime as required in campus emergencies, severe weather conditions and special events.
- Supervise, train and support student employees assigned to you.
- Maintain a friendly atmosphere within the department and the campus community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Facilities and Operations.
- Perform the following tasks at the beginning of the work shift, before/after all breaks, at the end of the work shift, and frequently throughout the work shift; check/respond to email and submit/update scheduled (CMMS) tasks.
- Ability to learn, and use computerized technology to communicate, monitor campus systems, and record keeping per department procedures.
- Perform basic maintenance and operation of equipment; including saws, drills, routers and other miscellaneous tools to complete assigned maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic construction installation/assembly of furniture, plumbing fixtures, and flooring; including beds, dressers, couches, toilets, sinks/faucets, shower fixtures, vinyl composite tile, ceramic tile, and modular carpet.
- Perform basic maintenance of building furnishes; including flooring, furniture, window screens, walls, and ceilings.
- Perform basic installation/application of finishes, including caulking, painting, staining, and coatings.
- Work to maintain shop cleanliness and that it is up to standards.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the public, staff, and students.
- Support graduation ceremonies and other special events.
- Snow removal as needed.
Qualifications - A High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 75 lbs. and work off of ladders
- Valid driver's license
