The Facilities Technician I is responsible for all aspects of installing, maintaining, and repairing heating/air conditioning/ refrigeration equipment, including sheet metal duct work, and ductwork insulation. Position is located out of Gastonia NC, within the Facilities Management Department. Important Note:This role is considered safety sensitive, and as such, you may be required to undergo various background screenings. This may include but is not limited to a driving record abstract, criminal check, a company sponsored medical and drug testing. What You Will Do:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC/R equipment, including electrical components, pumps, evaporators, chillers, boilers, ice machines, and other related equipment.
- Responsible for completing proper documentation describing work completed and recommended solutions.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Ability to pull wire, pull data and run conduit.
- Ability to repair/ replace lighting and ballasts.
- Knowledgeable in the inspection of new installations for potential maintenance issues and capable of installing, removing, and relocating air conditioning systems as required.
- Knowledgeable in the methods of inspecting, repairing, and maintaining light industrial and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment for large buildings including automated building management systems (such as Tridium and Siemens).
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision. Who You Are: Facilities Technician I (2-5 years' related experience)
- Completed high school or equivalent (i.e. GED)
- A valid driver's license with a good driving history.
- Ability to pass the Department of Transportation's medical exam.
- MUST possess a valid Environmental Protection Agency Universal refrigerant recovery card. Preferred:HVAC technology, commercial/industrial HVAC, or experience in maintenance and construction (with an emphasis on HVAC), or any related technical field. Working Conditions: Overnight travel and on-call are required. Physical Requirements include but are not limited to: Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (up to 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement. Mental Requirements include but are not limited to: Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
