Salary : $33,325.34 - $53,320.54 AnnuallyLocation : Surf City, NCJob Type: Full TimeJob Number: 20-00156Department: Facilities and GroundsDivision: Facilities and GroundsOpening Date: 10/10/2024Closing Date: 10/24/2024 11:59 PM EasternPosition Purpose The Facilities Technician is responsible for the cleaning and general maintenance of Town-owned buildings and facilities. This position requires work during the week, weekends, holidays on occasions, and some nights. This is a 40 hour a week non-exempt position. Duties and Responsibilities These duties and responsibilities are not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee may perform other related duties as negotiated to meet the ongoing needs of the Town.Cleans restrooms in various Town buildings by sanitizing and disinfecting walls, doors, toilets, sinks, floors, mirrors, and replenishing supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap.Cleans and maintains the Town's public restrooms throughout the year, with substantial focus on maintenance during non-peak season.Cleans a variety of surfaces in elevators, kitchens, break rooms, offices and hallways including doors, windows, sills, and other surfaces.Cleans stairwells and floors located in entryways, hallways, offices, and outside entryways by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and spot cleaning.Cleans furniture and office equipment to include dusting computers, desks and cubicles and disinfecting telephones.Disposes of trash by emptying and cleaning trash cans and taking trash to the dumpsters.Monitors and reports equipment breakdowns.Performs inventory checks, stock supplies, and deliver supplies.Sets up chairs and tables for meetings.Reports needed maintenance and repair work and may perform minor maintenance and repair work such as: changing light bulbs, unstopping toilets, and drains, hanging pictures, and touch-up painting.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level. Qualifications & KSA's QualificationsEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and the ability to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job such as those listed above.Licenses and Professional CertificationsNC Driver's LicenseKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of general maintenance techniques; cleaning products and procedures; and safety and security issues.Must be highly detailed orientated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.Skilled in driving a vehicle; operating various cleaning equipment; using hand and power tools; cleaning and sanitizing surfaces; and communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.ICS/NIMS course minimums required for all employees include FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800. Additionally, employees assigned middle and upper-level responsibilities within incident operations may also be required to complete additional follow-on courses deemed as necessary by Emergency Management and Human Resources staff.Ability to represent the Town in a professional and respectful manner while interacting with a diverse set of individuals within the workplace and the community. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements Working ConditionsEmployee is generally subject to inside environmental conditions having the lighting, temperature, and noise of an open floor-plan office environment. Employee is also exposed to outdoor conditions and may be frequently exposed to weather elements including rain, wind, varying temperatures, etc. In addition, the employee must effectively deal with personal danger, which may include exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials, fumes and smoke, intense heat, electrical hazards, confined or high work places, dangerous animals, extremely loud noises, hazards of working in and near traffic, and natural and man-made disasters. Physical RequirementsThe employee must read and write, and interact with others in person, over the phone, and via other devices. The employee may move about within various facilities to access file cabinets, documents, office machinery, and other equipment. Travel is required daily to outside sites in order to perform the duties described above, as well as to attend meetings, trainings, events, and other business activities. Work may require walking, standing, bending, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, and/or moving equipment, pushing, and pulling various objects, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating assigned equipment including motor vehicles.
