Required: High School Diploma or GED plus one (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined. Equivalency: Any combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by Human Resources.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Level: Six (6)

Salary Range: $15.66-$17.68 DOE

Purpose and Scope:

Under general supervision of the Director of Facilities the Facilities Technician will perform multi-craft functions for the college. Functions may include non-technical electrical, plumbing, grounds, carpentry, locksmith, custodial, and painting; provides day-to-day coordination, teamwork, and leadership to other employees performing similar work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties below are representative of the duties of the classification and are not intended to cover all the duties performed by the incumbent(s) of any particular position.   • Monitors, maintains, and performs standard repairs to buildings and grounds.
  • Assists licensed electrician with non-technical repairs.
  • Monitors performance of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems; performs standard repair and replacement of components.
  • Performs non-technical maintenance tasks such as cleaning of heating and cooling fan coil units and adjustment of system controls.
  • Performs non-technical maintenance of plumbing systems, including standard repair of leaking fixtures, cleaning obstructed waste lines, installing water coolers, and/or performing non-technical modifications to plumbing and water supply systems.
  • Performs carpentry maintenance tasks including routine sheetrock/drywall installation and/or repair, window, roof, cabinet, and countertop replacement, painting and texturing, and door and hardware installation, paint interior and exterior finishes, as appropriate.
  • May perform general maintenance, custodial, and trash removal tasks.
  • Maintains the inventory of parts and supplies for facilities repairs; orders materials as needed.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Documents facilities maintenance requirements; maintains appropriate records of work performed.
  • Performs snow removal, as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of one or more building trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, utility operations, building maintenance, and carpentry.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to assist with repair and maintenance of heating and cooling equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
  • Records maintenance skills.
