FLSA Status: Part Time, Non-exemptSUMMARYThis supervisor position ensures the facility is being used properly; patrons are using the facility as purposed, the staff is completing tasks as assigned, complaints, suggestions, and situations are handled professionally and courteously, and needed discipline is carried out fairly and consistently. Assists in overseeing the daily operation of the front desk including cash handling, membership sales, and good working knowledge of current and upcoming events. The Assistant will monitor access to the Recreation Center, welcome guests, answer phones, and ensure the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies while delivering outstanding customer service. The typical hours for this position are weekday evenings and weekends.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe statements below describe the general nature and level of work performed by the individual(s) assigned to this position. - Assist with managing and overseeing the Angleton Recreation Center and serve as the manager on duty. Support Front Desk Clerks, ensure department policy and procedures are followed, and help enforce rules and regulations regarding the proper use of the facility by guests and members by conducting regular facility walk-throughs.
- Provide knowledgeable information to citizens regarding recreation programs, activities, trips, membership fees, and rental information.
- Arrange chairs, tables, sporting equipment, or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group activities such as banquets, parties, group meetings, programs, or events.
- Demonstrate proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and sanitary facility. Daily duties include cleaning the front desk area, counters, and floors, taking out trash and recycling, cleaning weight room equipment and floors, cleaning restrooms, washing towels, mopping floors, and other duties as assigned.
- Maintain a safe and controlled environment; identify and eliminate or minimize hazardous conditions.
- Monitor access to the Angleton Recreation Center by ensuring memberships are current, and others are paying for day use and signing in before granting admission to the facility.
- Issue equipment for participants to use, track loaned equipment until it is returned to the front desk, and inspect for damage.
- Knowledge of program registration, membership sales, rental procedures, and maintaining a balanced cash register. Communicate irregularities and deficiencies to the supervisor/manager in a timely fashion
- Keep non-public areas secure at all times.
- Be prepared and organized.
- Recognize and respond effectively to incidents and emergencies. When necessary, provide proper emergency care (first aid/CPR/AED).
- Expected to report to work free from the effects of illegal drugs or alcohol and reports to work free from impairment due to prescription drugs.
- Expected to perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING (Certification/Licensure)The preferred way to obtain the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform this position's essential duties and responsibilities are listed below. The city reserves the right to allow substitutions if a candidate or incumbent exceeds requirements in one area but may be deficient in another.
Education and Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED), is preferred.
- (1) year cash handling experience preferred.
Special License, Certifications, and Designations - Valid, Class C Texas Driver's License in good standing.
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
