GENERAL DESCRIPTIONUnder general supervision, a Facility Attendant oversees the proper use of City of Apopka parks and recreational facilities; provides physical set-up arrangements for classes, meetings, activities, and public and private functions in community facilities and assists the public and staff in their use of the facilities. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Manager, or designee in accordance with established methods, schedules, and procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists and supervises special events and programs held throughout the City of Apopka. Opens and closes facilities; ensures compliance of permit conditions. Conducts site visits, produces written reports and works together with permit holders and the public.
- Monitor and administer park and recreation facility reservations.
- Responsible for assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of the parks. Performs custodial work, such as emptying trashcans, cleaning restrooms, and picking up trash around the assigned facility and stock restroom supplies as needed.
- Performs setups and breakdowns for events, activities, programs, and shows, as needed.
- Ensures facility use is in accordance with rules and regulations. Reports safety hazards and necessary equipment repairs immediately to a supervisor.
- Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate in both orally and in writing with customers and staff.
- Ability to take emergency measures necessary to insure the well-being of facility users.
- Ability to safely operate a utility cart or golf cart.
- Ability to sweep, rake, mop, pick up trash, test pool water, and empty trash cans.
- Ability to operate basic powered hand equipment, such as leaf blowers, weed eaters, and edgers.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, event plans, and facility layouts.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent is desirable.
- Customer service experience is desirable.
- Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license.
