About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Facility Attendant in the Water Resources Department, Meters Division. This opportunity is designated as Temporary and will not be eligible for city benefits. The position oversees the maintenance and upkeep of city buildings and facilities, ensuring they remain safe, clean, and functional for staff and visitors.
What you'll be doing:
* Provide custodial duties to buildings, facilities, and grounds, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors.
* Clean, dust, and polish furniture, equipment, and surfaces such as windowsills, walls, and wood paneling.
* Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including mirrors, toilets, urinals, and sinks; replenish soap and paper products as needed.
* Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste appropriately.
* Ensure security by locking doors and gates and disarming/resetting security alarms.
* Operate various cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, and buffing machines.
* Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and request replacements as needed.
* Communicate with supervisors and colleagues to coordinate work activities and resolve issues.
* Maintain records of daily checklists, inventory, and reports related to department operations.
Benefits:
* Salary: $19.40/Hour
* 8 hour day shifts with a 30 minute lunch
About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:
* High school diploma or GED required.
* One year of work experience showing the ability to maintain steady employment in any field.
* Valid North Carolina driver's license.
* Ability to perform essential functions, learn departmental policies, and demonstrate proficiency in the use of cleaning tools and equipment.

* Work Schedule: Mon-Fri schedule 8 hour shifts dependent on staffing needs between the hours 7am - 3:30pm
