Our Y has a 140 year rich history in our community with a new YMCA built along the Dan River in Downtown Danville, Virginia. Job Description The Danville Family YMCA is looking for a motivated, energetic facilities professional to lead the facilities and housekeeping department for our YMCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overall organization, administration, development, supervision and implementation of facilities management for the Y. The Danville Family is a nonprofit organization with the goal of strengthening the foundations of community. Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors or Associates Degree desired. A minimum of 1 year of work experience in Facility Management needed. Must have familiarity with OSHA standards, emergency plans, equipment purchasing and lease contracts, maintenance management, housekeeping. Strong supervisory skills required. Strong PC skills and budgeting experience necessary. Ability to prioritize, and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment required. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time, and sufficient strength to lift and carry 50 pounds. Ability to carry out maintenance duties including general repair and cleaning. Use of a ladder and various tools is essential. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Essential Functions General Description: The Facility Director is responsible for overseeing all facilities, properties, and grounds for the interior and exterior of the Danville Family YMCA.   • Interpret, communicate, and promote Y mission, goals, and objectives to department employees, volunteer leaders, members, and the community.
  • Support branch/department initiatives related to membership retention and Annual Campaign goals.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with members and staff. Operational Performance
  • Develop, lead, supervise, and evaluate facility and property management including staffing, contractors, cleanliness, repairs, and supplies. Oversees cleaning crew.
  • Maintain safe and high quality standards for the facility.
  • Oversee and manage pool operation to ensure compliance with state bathing code.
  • Provide leadership in major facility, pool or property repairs.
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry repair.
  • Develop, implement, and manage budgets in assigned areas of responsibility including timely and accurate forecasting and budget analysis. Management and Leadership
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff in assigned areas.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance and inspection schedule on all equipment and major systems in the facility.
  • Serve as a member of the Facilities Committee, and as a branch representative on applicable Association-wide cabinets.
  • Administer system of records, reports, and inventory in assigned areas. Team Effectiveness
  • May serve as a building supervisor for assigned evenings and on-call weekends.
  • Serve as a consultant with other department staff in the purchase of equipment and on other projects that affect or relate to the facility and grounds. ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED Self-Development Follow a plan for personal and professional development in consultation with supervisor. Oversee vendor contracts in a variety of areas including cleaning, HVAC, and outside ground maintenance. Works closely with numerous parties on new construction projects and reports directly to the Director of Operations Director. Keep him/her informed of plans, progress, and problems. Ability to work varied schedule which may include evenings and weekends.
