Facility Maintainer Job Summary:
As the Facility Maintainer, you will be a vital member of a dynamic team responsibility for performing various maintenance, repair, and installation tasks. You will complete work requests anywhere in the facilities or on the grounds as assigned by Facilities Management supervision, work from various written and verbal instructions, layouts, sketches and diagrams, using a variety of hand tools and special purpose equipment and materials.
Facility Maintainer Job Responsibilities:
* Respond to calls for service and perform various maintenance, repair, and installation tasks and complete written work requests independently anywhere in the facilities or on the grounds as assigned by Facilities Management supervision.
* Has basic knowledge/skills in the areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, mechanics, building structure, etc. in order to complete the variety of tasks required.
* Communicate appropriately with Facilities staff and other employees to ensure continuity of service. Respond in a calm, courteous, respectful manner, and take immediate and proper action.
* Assist other department maintenance personnel as needed with day-to-day work as well as projects.
* Maintain proper work records.
* Represent DKH and Facilities Management appropriately in appearance and action at all times.
Facility Maintainer Education and Experience Requirements:
* High school graduate or equivalent.
* Sufficient vocational or working experience to equal 5-7 years of experience related to job duties.
Facility Maintainer Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Has basic working knowledge in carpentry, electrical and mechanical fields sufficient to be able to perform basic repairs and the ability to learn more advanced duties.
* Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or charts and drawings.
* Use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
* React quickly to emergency situations and take appropriate action.
* Able to assist in moving and installing machinery, heavy furniture, dollies, rollers, and hand trucks.
* Moderate physical effort consisting of frequent (1/3 to 2/3) lifting or moving average (or= 80 lbs.) weight materials (1/3).
* Work from a crouched or bent over position and have sufficient dexterity to safely operate power tools, valves, etc.
* Performs work both inside and outside. Works from heights and works outside in a variety of weather. Works with chemicals which are potentially harmful if proper precautions are not used.
