Job Description:

The Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC) seeks to employ career-oriented candidates and offers employment opportunities in a wide variety of challenging occupations. This position is represented by American Federations of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

The facility maintenance specialist keeps things working, coordinates projects, and conducts repairs and upkeep throughout the facility. Your role is to work with a variety of stakeholders, contractors, and suppliers to upkeep the facility and complete projects and repairs. You will use powered and manual tools in the completion of your work.

What We Are Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of: a) general building maintenance; b) carpentry; c) electrical; d) mechanical; e) painting; or f) plastering experience.

A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience.

Requested Skills in

* Operation of tractors, minor construction machinery, and general maintenance tools

* Minor repairs and general maintenance of a 24-hour facility

* Planning, documenting, and tracking projects and repairs

* Supervision and direction of work

* Valid drivers license

Working Conditions

Working in a minimum and medium custody adult correctional facility including daily contact with adults in custody (AIC). Working with equipment, cleaning solutions, and tools.

Requirements for Employment

You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range.
