Job Description:
  • Comply with all plant safety and work rules
  • Respond to facility requests for immediate attention to all issues.
  • Controls wastewater production functions by operating all plant equipment, including but not limited to pumps, primary and secondary clarifiers, bar screens, detritus, dissolved air floatation, belt press, aeration tanks and blowers, anaerobic digesters and related equipment.
  • Maintains proper chemical balances for wastewater treatment by unloading chemicals, filling chemical containers, replacing chlorine tanks, and adjusting chemical application rates.
  • Assures quality control by inspecting interior and exterior plant equipment including pits, tanks, digesters, boilers, heaters, and lift stations.
  • Keeps equipment functioning by completing preventative maintenance requirements and repairing machinery as needed.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by cleaning and painting major building areas and lift station locations; maintains grounds surrounding wastewater plant facility structures.
  • Collects information by reading gauges and dials, recording data, changing recorder charts, performing sampling tests and making mathematical calculations.
  • Performs maintenance repair work in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and/or paint.
  • Document inspections and maintain records of preventative maintenance.
  • Plan and execute other skilled mechanical or electrical services as necessary.
  • Performs utility and structural repairs as needed, alone or in collaboration with internal/external tradespersons.
  • Monitor and support sub-contractors in performance of work.
  • Work may occasionally be assigned across multiple Biery Cheese locations.
  • Assist other maintenance personnel as required
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent required
  • Appropriate certification and/or licensing (including state specific), where applicable.
  • Licensed WWTP Operator a plus.
  • Knowledge of local and national wastewater regulation and ordinance
  • A minimum of 2 years of work experience in general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanical repair or HVAC.
  • A valid driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Completion of a formal training program in building repair to include general electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, maintenance repair or HVAC may substitute for experience.
  • Computer skills and knowledge including experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Resourceful problem solver with proven ability to bring quick resolution to challenging situations.
  • Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly associates, management, and peers.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, customers or suppliers.
  • Positive and goal oriented, willing to accept the challenge of new assignments and be able to work well with others.
  • Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with emphasis on teamwork, customer service and safe working practices.

Work EnvironmentWork environment is typically in the plant environment which involves moderate risks or discomforts which may require special safety precautions working around moving machines in production facilities. Protective clothing or gear such as goggles, gloves and shoes may be required.Physical DemandsWork requires some physical strain such as long periods standing and walking in production facility.
