WDIV is searching for a Facilities Support Specialist. Job Title : Facilities Support Specialist Reports to : Assistant Director of Technology (ADOT) Overview As the Facilities Support Specialist at WDIV, you will ensure a safe, functional, and visually appealing environment within our downtown Detroit facility. Responding to help desk service requests, youll perform routine repairs, support larger projects with contractor coordination, and assist with building compliance under the guidance of the ADOT. This role requires a proactive approach to maintaining facility standards and delivering excellent service to all employees. Primary Responsibilities Troubleshoot and execute repairs and perform routine preventative maintenance to facility assets (excluding broadcast equipment), including basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry work. Proactively identify and share solutions that help minimize vendor costs. Proactively address help desk requests for repairs and general upkeep of the building, equipment, and grounds Assist in maintaining compliance with building codes, ADA standards, and safety regulations. Ensure that lighting, signage, fire suppression systems, and emergency procedures are up to date. Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards. Regularly inspect the building, identify areas for improvement, and report significant issues requiring contractor attention to the ADOT. Support the Assistant Director of Technology in creating a schedule for preventative maintenance tasks, and consistently execute according to that schedule. Consistently maintain organized records of building permits, safety inspections, and any other facility-related documentation. Work in a safe manner at all times, identify and correct hazards, and comply with all safety policies and best practices Oversee the work of external contractors for services like security, janitorial, and fire suppression, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. Act as an essential staff member during emergencies or severe weather, providing facility support during and after hours as needed. Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time High school diploma or GED required. Valid drivers license in Michigan. Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role preferred. Working knowledge of HVAC maintenance, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing Strong communication and relationship-building skills Able to read blueprints and diagrams. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software for records and reporting. Must pass background check and drug screen.
