Position Summary

This Sanitor position is responsible for performing routine cleaning and sanitation of production areas, maintaining supplies, tools and equipment. This job will also maintain the cleanliness of the warehouse, support areas and outdoor premises.

3rd Shift | Wednesday- Saturday, 8pm -6:30am (4/10s)

General Duties/Responsibilities
  • Maintain the facility and the surrounding area in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP's) and recognized Food Safety Standards.
  • Detailed sanitation and up-keep of the facility, ensuring that all processing equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized to established standards.
  • Removal of all trash and product/soil from plant; cleaning of floors, walls, ceilings per the Master Sanitation Schedule. (MSS)
  • Follow all Sanitation Equipment tool and equipment guidelines.
  • Must work in a safe manner and comply with all health, safety,Lock out, security and emergency requirements.
  • Operate cleaning equipment including but not limited to: floor scrubber, portable tank foamer, vacuum and CIP system.
  • Rinse, foam, scrub, and sanitize production equipment per SSOP's ensuring that all areas meet standards of acceptability.
  • Responsible for hand cleaning production equipment; requiring some disassembling and reassembling.
  • Visually inspect equipment and complete sanitation checklist after completion.
  • Work with a pre-operational inspector to ensure the line is approved for release.
  • Work with Maintenance to ensure the internal parts of equipment are cleaned.
  • Maintain accurate cleaning and sanitation documentation as needed and required as outlined by the Master Sanitation Schedule. (MSS)
  • Work with chemicals and follow chemical usage labels for application, titration and proper PPE.
  • Keep work area and equipment neat, clean and properly stored.
  • Perform self-inspections of own work.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required by the Manager or Supervisor.
Food Safety and Quality Responsibilities
  • Follow GMP policy when in the production facility and encourage your team to do the same.
  • Understand our SQF policies relating to pest control, visitors, allergen management, and cleaning and sanitation.
  • Demonstrate awareness of Management's Commitment to SQF and work towards Food Safety and Quality and help the company meet this commitment.
  • If there is a problem that involves food quality and safety, report to the Quality Assurance Manager Manager so that the CAPA (corrective action, preventative action) log may be filled out, the situation be investigated, and resolved with the goal of continuous improvement of food quality and safety.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to communicate in English, written and verbal, for training and safety purposes
  • Basic computer and math skills
  • Decision making/problem solving skills and listening skills
  • Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Willing to learn and adhere to proper procedures in safety when working with moving machinery
  • Must have the ability to work thoroughly with attention to detail to meet food safety sanitation standards.
  • Self-directed, personally motivated with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to multitask in an ever changing fast paced environment
  • Must be a team player, able to work well with others and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Excellent attendance and performance track record.
  • Ability to perform all essential functions of the position.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 yr basic sanitation experience
  • Basic knowledge of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP)
  • Knowledge of GMPs, Food Safety and Sanitation Procedures preferred
Work Environment/Physical Requirements
  • 30 minute unpaid Lunch break; Two 15 minute breaks Paid
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs
  • Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions and adherence to safety protocols with these chemicals
  • Perform repetitive tasks: stand during most of the shift, walking, stooping, bending, reaching and crouching, climbing up/down stairs and ladders
  • Must be able to work at heights that are above ground level, using a scissor lift or ladder
  • Work in cold environment when cleaning cooler or freezer
  • Must have reliable transportation to arrive to/from work site
  • Must be dependable, flexible and able to work overtime, if necessary
