Responsible for monthly tower and boiler inspections. Oversees water treatment program at assigned schools. Assists technicians with daily repairs when needed. Knowledge in processing paperwork electronically utilizing Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google. This position reports to the HVAC Supervisor.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains filters on HVAC equipment on assigned school route.Assists technicians on daily repairs when needed.Performs other activities to ensure the efficient operation of the HVAC and Facility Services departments.Performs monthly safety checks on cooling towers and boilers on assigned route.Monitors chemical levels on water treatment program at assigned schools.Assists with District and emergency and/or general assignments as operationally necessary.KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:High School diploma or GED required; trade-specific certificate preferred Minimum of one (1) year of HVAC experience preferredMakes repair decisions which impact the schools/buildings within the district Valid Georgia driver's license required; CDL preferredMakes decisions and recommendations under the guidance of HVAC SupervisorRequires contact with internal and external personnel of influence and decision-making responsibility to discuss issues of importanceRequires minimal managerial skillsFamiliarity with computer applications preferred Minimal-major depending on task being performedVariable work environment - Facility Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings; subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.May be on call after normal work hours (24 hours a day, seven days a week) and in emergency situations.Walking, standing, kneeling, driving for eight (8) hours per day; must be able to climb a thirty (30) foot ladder and negotiate stairs.Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally.As part of the hiring process for this position, a pre-offer/pre-employment physical examination is required. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the examination (up to $300) and will be reimbursed upon successfully passing the examination and hired with Clayton County Public Schools-Facilities Services.NOTE: This is a grade 18, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a Step 4.
