The Facility Technician is responsible for maintaining building service and utility supply equipment such as HVAC, chilled water, purified water, and emergency generators. The Technician performs daily checks, preforms repairs and preventative maintenance, and operates various facilities systems and functions in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment. The Facility Technician may work directly with or oversee contracted expertise to return to equipment to proper function in a timely fashion and document the work performed in relevant site systems. Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for maintenance of facility equipment such as HVAC including systems with dehumidification and humidification capability, Exhaust Fans, Wastewater System, Fire / Burglar Systems, buildings& grounds, , etc.
- Require hands on repairs to multiple systems with different field requirements (piping, basic mechanical, basic electrical, refrigerant reclamation, refrigerant systems, pump rebuilds, etc.). An EPA Refrigerant license is preferred.
- Conducts and/or assists in repairs (corrective maintenance), calibrations, preventative maintenance, and routine checks of process equipment, building support systems, utility systems, and laboratory systems.
- Interprets electrical schematics, I/O (Input/Output) wiring and panel drawings, utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork, and HVAC P&ID's (Process & Instrumentation Diagrams) to aid in troubleshooting and repair.
- Participate in On-Call rotations for after-hours facility and manufacturing support and may work outside of established shift hours upon short notice
- Collaborates with subcontractors on interventions on facility and utility equipment and acts as an interface with production for potentially impacted areas of operation
- Perform other duties as required troubleshooting, analyzing, installing, modifying, and repairing machines with little to no supervision.
- Maintains records to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements.
- Responsible for maintaining current training on all related aspects of job
- Reviews and provides written feedback on maintenance procedures, forms, and records
- Ensures stock management of useful spare parts
- Attends all mandatory safety training and maintains a safe work environment by following LOTO (Lockout/Tagout), NFPA 70e (National Fire Protection Association), and applicable procedures and all facility safety policies and procedures
- Performs/reviews hazardous waste operations in accordance with requirements for RCRA under 40CFR255.16 DOT 49 CFR 172.202.
Key requirements: - Minimum High School diploma / GED (General Education Diploma) is required
- Certificate or training in mechanical technology or related technical discipline, or Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and aptitude
- Knowledge of pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems as well as intermediate skills in the use of power and hand tools in the building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical are required
- Possess a high mathematical understanding, excellent reading skills along with intermediate computer and typing skills
- Experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) environment highly desired
- Basic computer skills with Windows based systems.
- Basic English skills desired, bilingual a plus.
- Climb ladders and lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
