Job Summary
Under limited supervision performs cleaning and minor maintenance activities throughout all Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) venues. Facility Worker will also clean and maintain the kitchen, common areas, meeting rooms and restrooms assuring a certain level of cleanliness for guests and staff. Incumbent will also clean all public restrooms maintained by the CVB and will also assist during CVB festivals and special events. In general, the incumbent works under well established standard procedures covering all CVB venues without immediate supervision. Due to the variety of the facilities' uses, timing/scheduling of events, and level of clientele the incumbent should have a knowledge of the department and facility operations and procedures. Incumbent's day-to-day contacts include CVB staff, peers, supervisors and facility users.
Essential Functions
1. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing and polishing floors.
2. Removing trash from offices, common areas and kitchen facility.
3. Dusts furniture, fixtures, equipment and cleans and washes floors, walls and carpeting.
4. Cleans lavatories, rest rooms, including replenishing towels, soaps and tissue.
5. Polishes fixtures and trimmings.
6. Keeps track of janitorial supplies and reorders as necessary.
7. Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, meeting equipment, etc. as assigned.
8. Works irregular hours and flexible days off.
9. Maintains public restrooms by sanitizing of toilets, sinks, urinals and counter tops.
10. Assists during CVB festivals and special events
11. Will maintain all CVB outdoor fountains by cleaning and adding of water when necessary.
12. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
13. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
14. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
Required Skills
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
* Reading skills necessary to safely use chemical cleaning agents and compounds with some writing skills, and manual dexterity are the principle requirements.
* Physical ability and endurance to move furniture and lift trash is needed.
* Work irregular hours and schedules.
* Must have good oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service.
* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
* Must be able to lift 44 pounds and work inside and outside in all kinds of weather.
* Must be a self starter.
* Will have the ability to work for long hours and stand for extended periods of time.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have or be able to obtain a food handler's certificate within 10 days of hiring.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen, and functional assessment screening (Level 1).
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.

This job entails moderate physical labor, which requires strength and agility. The employee is occasionally required to sit and or smell. The employee must occasionally lift, shovel, and carry 15 to 35 pounds and exert up to 44 pounds of force. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
