Salary is commensurate based on occupational experience and qualifications.JOB SUMMARY, DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS:Job SummaryThis 40 week position is responsible for instructing classes in the area of Emergency Medical Services. Classes may consist of candidates seeking initial licensure or license renewal. Certification levels include but are not limited to Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician - Basic, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodation.Teaching and Student Success:
- Responsible for didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction of program courses
- Review, revise, and create curriculum in accordance with NTC academic standards and expectations
- Use engaging instructional strategies and methodologies which foster student success both in and outside the classroom
- Provide immediate, routine, and consistent feedback to students to assist them in improving performance in technical and core ability competencies.
- Follow the academic calendar and scheduled provided by the supervisor
- Use data to measure quality outcomes related to student persistence, retention, completion rate, course success, and to design improvement strategies based on the evidence
- Comply with College policies and practices related to instruction, assessment, and delivery
- Engage in division, department and team meetings and requirements including development and completion of the college's strategic planning through team action plans and budget requests
- Facilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, out of classroom activities, and the mentoring of students and peers.
- Assess and evaluate student performance in alignment with the College Assessment Plan in a timely manner.
- Submit final grades by the scheduled due date identified on the academic calendar.
- Maintain Student Connect hours in accordance with the faculty contract
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance and achievement.
- Coordinate instructional support services to meet individual student accommodations and modification needs.
- Furnish written evaluations as requested by students.
- Assist in student academic advising.
Community Relations & Collaboration:
- Support and maintain collaborative relationships with business & industry, community-based organizations, and K-12 partners.
- Participate in institutional, advisory and program team and committee meetings.
- Collaborate with the program team in identifying developing, implementing and evaluating strategic goals and objectives.
- Assist in student recruitment and Student Services activities.
- Attend College Open Houses (on-campus and off-campus, set-up and take down) to assist with student recruitment.
- Assist in orientation of new full-time, part-time, adjunct faculty, and all other employees within their content areas.
Professional Development:
- Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance Systems requirements, faculty progression structure requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation
- Maintain professional certifications, licensures, and requirements.
- Keep professionally up to date in the area of content expertise and in the teaching profession.
- Utilize and engage in professional day activities and team time as designated.
- Assist, participate, support, and carry out other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications RequiredIn limited circumstances, NTC may consider a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position.
Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic or related Emergency Medical Services field or 60 college credits and a commitment to obtain a Bachelor's Degree upon hire in a related field, i.e., Emergency Medical Services Administration, Emergency Health Sciences, Advanced Paramedicine, or other determined appropriate field of study.
Experience: 2 Years
- Occupational instructors must have a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) full-time or equivalent demonstrated relevant occupational experience, with at least one year within the last five years.
- May waive the occupational experience of one year within the last five years if the candidate has two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.

Technical Skills:Ability to manage and track document changes; create, modify and format templates and files; ability to use multiple computer screens and multitask in several computer applications.
Customer Service Skills:Ability to actively listen, discern key information, and respond professionally; ask follow up or clarifying questions to diffuse escalated situations and offer appropriate problem resolution when necessary.
Other Requirements- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and database information systems (i.e., Excel), Learning Management Systems, Outlook/Email and Calendar systems, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, copier/scanner/printer, phone systems, laptop computer, tablet devices.
- Must hold a valid Wisconsin driver's license and be able to meet NTC's insurance carrier standards.
- Current Experience serving in a career emergency services position in an urban or rural setting.
- Qualified at the time of, and throughout, employment as an instructor by the Wisconsin Technical College System. Must also meet Higher Learning Commission requirements, accreditation standards, and/or licensing standards where applicable.
- State of Wisconsin licensed EMS Instructor II required, or ability to attain upon hire.
- BLS, ACLS and PALS instructor required, or ability to attain upon hire.
- PHTLS instructor preferred
- Certified Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I (FESI I) preferred.
