Faculty positions in Electrical Engineering (Open-Rank) JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for tenure-equivalent faculty positions in Electrical Engineering at the rank of instructor, assistant professor, associate professor, or full professor, to begin January 2025 or August 2025. Position responsibilities include: • Developing and teaching high quality undergraduate and graduate courses • Engaging in research • Participating in curriculum development and assessment • Recruiting, advising, and mentoring students • Conducting research (for all professor ranks) • Performing service activities at the department and university levels • Being an active and visible member of the university community The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Cybersecurity Engineering is home to three bachelor's degree programs and a master's degree program in Electrical Engineering. The Department is committed to the theme of we know want we do, we do it well, and we can prove it working in both collaboratively and collegiality to educate and prepare graduates for the global marketplace. The cybersecurity engineering a unique program that can lead to gateway for collaborative research. The department plans to establish an NSA center for both hardware and software research and manpower development in partnership with industrial partners and stakeholders. The Successful candidates are expected to play an important role in defining and moving the department and programs to the next level of excellence. JOB DESCRIPTION MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Evidence of effective university-level teaching
- For the rank of Instructor:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution
- 18 credit hours in the discipline
- For the rank of Assistant Professor:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field earned before the start date
- For the rank of Associate Professor:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field earned before the start date
- Currently hold rank of Associate Professor or eligible to apply for Associate Professor at current institution.
- For the rank of Full Professor:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field earned before the start date
- 6 years of experience at the rank of Associate Professor or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Successful candidates should possess:
- Commitment to excellence in teaching
- Experience with course development and assessment
- Experience with ABET or Washington Accord accredited programs
- Experience with online teaching and quality assurance
- Record of scholarship commensurate with experience in the profession
- Participation in obtaining funding or work on funded projects
- Experience with undergraduate research projects
- Experience with graduate teaching and research thesis supervision
- Service record commensurate with experience in the profession
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to advise and mentor students
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across academic departments

TENURE-EQUIVALENT SYSTEM Faculty at Florida Poly are employed via renewable, multi-year appointments codified in a collective bargaining agreement. This tenure-equivalent system substantially mirrors tenure systems at other schools, with reappointment and progression in rank based on a comprehensive review of accomplishments. Initial contract durations are as follows: Assistant Professor: 3 years Associate Professor: 3-5 years Professor: 6 years Applicants with post-PhD experience may be offered an accelerated timeline to apply for promotion to the next academic rank. Under this tenure-equivalent system, faculty are eligible to compete for NSF and NIH grants, including career grants.
