UPMC Children's Hospital of PittsburghUniversity of Pittsburgh School of MedicineDepartment of PediatricsDivision of NephrologyThe Division of Nephrology at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and the Department of Pediatrics,University of Pittsburgh School ofMedicine is recruiting a full-time academic physician scientist at the rank ofAssistant Professor on the tenure track. The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated evidence ofthe likelihood of transition to independent funding, including a high-quality publication record, track record ofextramural funding, and mentoring experience in a basic science, translational, or clinical science field relevant topediatric nephrology. The successful applicant will have significant protected time to establish their independentresearch program and participate in the clinical, teaching, and service activities in the division. The candidatemust have an MD/DO (or foreign equivalent) and be board-eligible/certified in pediatric nephrology.The Division of Nephrology at the University of Pittsburgh has a long track record of active engagement andmentoring in basic science, clinical and translational research, with three current R01-funded investigators andthree junior physician-scientists. There is a strong history of collaboration with the Adult Renal-ElectrolyteDivision, including an NIDDK NIH-sponsored George M. O'Brien Kidney Research Center, the Pittsburgh Centerfor Kidney Research, as well as opportunities to work with investigators at Carnegie Mellon University. TheDepartment of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh ranks among the top 10 free-standing children's hospitalsin total and NIH- sponsored research funding.Named to the Top 10 Honor Roll on U.S. News & World report's 2022-2023 list of American's Best Children'sHospitals, UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is a 315-bed free-standing children's hospital located in thethriving Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
