Faculty support specialists are employed for one or two semesters of an academic year on a part-time basis. Faculty support specialists work with the assigned faculty on activities that support teaching, advising, grading, technical assistance, and similar activities to enhance student learning. Inthis role, individuals do not teach or have full responsibility for regular assigned courses. The position requires development of a professional plan in consultation with the supervisor, considering the needs of the faculty member, students, and the department.Perform duties which support the academic mission of the department. This may involve supervising computer labs or reference rooms, grading papers, advising students, tutoring, technical support, assisting in the production of instructional materials, Canvas support, and occasionally assisting in classroom assignments.The essential duties and responsibilities comprising the workload of the Faculty Support Specialist fall into three categories: Professional Practice, Scholarship and Scholarly Activity including but not limited to:* Formal (scheduled) and informal (unscheduled) classroom assistance as needed* Preparing, grading, and correcting assignments;* Guiding students' individual work* Supporting project-based learning practices* Providing career and academic advice* Consulting with students outside of class time* Participating in the development of teaching methods, programs, or course content* Developing teaching and learning materials* Creation of resources or programs to support teaching* Developing study sessions, conducting office hours.Description of Work Continued:Appointment TypesThe duty year for Faculty Support Specialist shall normally consist of the regular academic year starting with Bronco Kickoff.Faculty Support Specialist will be expected to work regular schedules, with no less than two (2) consecutive days off per week, to meet the needs of the department and the faculty.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:* Possess a Master's or doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution relating to a business degree with at least 12 credits in the concentration you wish to support.* Graduate degree earned two or more years ago.* At least five years of work experience related to the field in which you wish to teach.* Attend new employee orientation prior to start and complete all required employment paperwork with the Human Resources department no later than your first day of employment.Knowledge skills and abilities:* Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty on projects contributing to the mission and goals of Fayetteville State University.* Strong communication and organizational skills.* Willingness to assist faculty in planning and implementing class instructions, meetings, i.e. student orientations, lectures, receptions and workshops, etc.* Willing to assist faculty in conducting evaluations and assessments.* Willingness to assist with general responsibilities and other responsibilities as assigned.Preferred Qualifications: Special Instructions to Applicants:Full-time or part-time student of Fayetteville State University should not apply to this posting.Notice to ApplicantsPlease make sure that the work history listed on your application is identical to the work history listed on your resume.
