$31.11 - $49.78 Hourly $64,714 - $103,542 Annually This position is a Pay Band HH Posting Details VISION: All New Mexico families and young children are thriving MISSION: Optimize the health, development, education, and well-being of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers through a family-driven, equitable, community-based system of high-quality prenatal and early childhood programs and services. The Early Childhood Education and Care Department was established on July 1, 2020. The Department's aim is to create a more cohesive, equitable, and effective early childhood system in New Mexico. That means coordinating a continuum of programs from prenatal to five, and ensuring that families in every corner of the state can access the services they need. This posting will be used for ongoing recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. Why does the job exist? The purpose of the Families FIRST Registered Nurse role is to provide comprehensive care coordination to Medicaid eligible pregnant women and children up to age (3) three. They are directly involved in the assessment and evaluation of pregnant women and children ages 0-3. They ensure the management, coordination, and monitoring of target population in areas of medical, social and educational needs to improve birth outcomes of pregnant women and the health status of their infants as outlined in the Families FIRST model. The Families FIRST Registered Nurse establishes a referral network and collaborates with community groups to educate clients on the importance of early prenatal care and preventive services for pregnant women and their infant children. They provide education on pregnancy, childhood development and community resources to assist them in achieving full potential for their families. How does it get done? The Families FIRST Registered Nurse must utilize effective communication among multidisciplinary team members, providers, and physicians in reference to optimal patient care. They must be able to access and refer clients to other community programs based on their professional nursing assessment and be able to act quickly if a situation calls for immediate intervention. They must make program-specific decisions per protocols, and prioritize client needs accordingly. They are required to administer nurse case management to clients by utilizing the laws, principles, practices and techniques of professional nursing, as well as a working knowledge of billing and Electronic Health Record data entry. They advise on health maintenance and disease prevention as needed in the areas of Prenatal education and Infant and Toddler developmental assessments. They use the ACAMS data base as appropriate while maintaining HIPAA and complying with procedures outlined in the Families FIRST manual. Who are the customers? Medicaid-eligible pregnant women and children ages 0-3. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience with pregnant women in an OB clinic or hospital setting such as Labor and Delivery. The ideal candidate will have experience with infants, toddlers and children, ages 0-3 yrs. They will have experience in case management and bilingual (Spanish) is preferred. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as with a team. Minimum Qualification Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico OR eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements OR Eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Additionally, maintaining current CPR certification is necessary. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
