Position Type: Student Support Services/Social WorkerDate Posted: 5/24/2023Location: Administrative OfficeDate Available: 06/20/2023 NATURE OF WORK The Families in Transition Case Manager is a summer position that works with Chatham County School staff and community partners to support students and their families identified during the school year as being in transition, such as those experiencing homelessness. Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the Families in Transition Liaison will promote student growth and achievement by providing services that strengthen home, school, and community partnerships and eliminate barriers to school and life success. MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree or higher in social work. Ability to work effectively with families that live in transition, school staff, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to speak, understand, read and write fluently in English and/or Spanish; or any equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the re-identification and immediately enroll McKinney Vento students over the summer.
  • Under the supervision of the McKinney Vento Liaison, develop and deliver programming and services for children and families in the populations served.
  • Generate a bank of community resources that can be given to families identified by the program.
  • Collaborates with community agencies and LEA programs to help obtain needed services for families over the summer.
  • Providing timely, accurate, and responsive support to families, schools, programs, and other departments during the summer.
  • Assist with providing necessary professional development for stakeholders during the summer.
  • Assures that McKinney Vento families know their educational rights and that the educational rights of families are posted throughout the district.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
  • Comply with policies and regulations established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules, and board policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Federal Programs.
  • MINIMUM STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM RESPONSIBILITIES Physical Requirements: Must be able to exert a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Due to the amount of time spent standing and/or walking, physical requirements are consistent with those for Light Work. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics (similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things. Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak in Spanish and English to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments, and/or directions. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, etc., in English and Spanish. Requires the ability to prepare routine and technical documents. Requires ability to write, using standard conventions, in English and Spanish. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, explain procedures, and follow oral and written instructions in English and Spanish. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English and Spanish. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; add and subtract; multiply and diviuselize decimals and percentages; and apply the principles of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape. Motor Coordination: Requires the ability to rapidly and accurately coordinate hands and eyes using adaptive equipment. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to form numerous signs, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color. Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress. Must be sensitive to cultural differences among individuals and groups of persons. Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving the nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to communicate via telephone. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a summer position that is part-time for two months. The position is funded from June 20, 2023, to August 15, 2023. Continuation of the position is contingent upon future funding.
