- B.A. or B. S. in Foreign Languages, Communication or Education, preferred.
- Able to speak, read and write Spanish and English fluently.
- Displays ability to relate in a warm and supportive manner.
- Knowledge of school and community-based resources and ability to access them on behalf of families.
- Have experience working with children and low-income families.
- Valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Liaison services for Spanish speaking families between the student and the parents between the school and the community.

JOB GOAL:
- To interpret for and/or translate documents in order to provide links between Spanish speaking families and needed resources in order to enable Spanish speaking families to participate fully in their child's educational experience.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be knowledgeable about school and community resources that our Spanish speaking families will be using on a regular basis.
- Interpret and translate documents linking students and families to appropriate school based or outside services and resources.
- Establish a strong, working relationships with the school staff, working with the teaching staff when they have a concern about the progress of a particular child.
- Be available after hours as needed for family and program accessibility.
- Provide information to parents about the opportunities/services in the school and community in a friendly, supportive fashion.
- Make home visits as necessary to support program objectives.
- Work with the school staff, administrators and parents to plan and participate in events that are for the community, families and children.
- Interpret and translate for interested parents to become involved in the school and coordinate their involvement in the classroom and school program.
- Identify barriers to attendance for Spanish speaking families and assist in identifying other student service needs and refer to appropriate community resources.
- Serve as liaison between Spanish speaking families, school, and community based agencies.
- Collaborate with teachers, guidance counselors and other professionals in assessing Spanish speaking student needs and designing strategies to help individual pupils.
- Assist Spanish speaking students and families in transitioning activities.
- Perform other duties consistent with assigned position as may be requested by immediate supervisor and/or Superintendent of Schools.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Exceptional Children/ELL Services SALARY: $168.23 - $244.54/daily - Depending on Experience CONTRACT: 235 Days, balance adjusted for remainder of year. APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
