Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.Summary/Primary Purpose: Provide qualified families and pregnant women with information, intervention, and learning opportunities which support the achievement of Federal Head Start Performance Standards. Utilize the selected curriculum and specialized training to independently supervise and guide assigned families and pregnant women to successful completion of individualized family and child development goals.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct orientation for new families including completion of all required program documents.
- Complete 1.5-hour weekly home visits with home-based families (46 per year) and 1-hour monthly home visits (12 per year) for center-based families.
- Develop and implement individualized Home/Center-based Visit Plans for each participant.
- Identify and problem-solve barriers to goal achievement, teaching child development and parenting/life skills to increase family self-sufficiency and healthy child development.
- Conduct Brigance screenings and ongoing assessments according with program policy guidelines and monitor child development progress on an ongoing basis.
- Integrate information from screenings, ongoing assessments, parents and, if applicable, the Individual Family
- Service Plan (IFSP), to develop Child Development Goals.
- Develop a Family Partnership Goal Plan and document/monitor monthly progress per policy.
- Conduct a Prenatal Risk Assessment with pregnant women, and with input from the family and the Health
- Services Manager, develop an individualized Prenatal Service Plan.
- Assist families in the completion of monthly health requirements, based on Nebraska's EPSDT schedule and program requirements, to meet the individual healthcare needs of enrolled children and pregnant women.
- Provide each family with referrals to community agencies or services, including mental health services as needed.
- Follow State mandatory reporting laws, including program policy, in cases of child neglect/abuse.
- Follow all program policies and procedures regarding documentation and maintain Child Plus database information as required.
- Serve as primary electronic file manager, maintaining high quality documentation standards set by Council on Accreditation (COA) and the Federal Head Start Performance Standards.
- Attend quarterly Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings and present on each assigned family.
- Attend and participate in all program-required meetings, trainings, and in-services.
- Driving is an essential aspect of this position.
- If bilingual, perform interpretation, translate documents and help families complete required documentation.
- All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneEducation and/or Experience: Associate degree (A.A.) in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Human Social Services or related field required. At least one-year related experience preferred. Bachelor's Degree (BS or BA) in same fields may be given preference. If hired as Bilingual Family Consultant, ability to speak, read and write in language of origin is required.Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
- Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
- The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
- Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail and filing.
- Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
- Demonstrate sensitivity to the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must be able to pass medical examination and Tuberculosis test. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must be able to provide own transportation to home visits. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Obtain certification in First Aid, CPR and CPI within 6 months of hire. Become certified in Parents As Teachers within one year of hire.
