This is a non-merit position. Recruitment for this position will be handled by the Family Court of St. Louis County. Hours: Late afternoon, evening and weekend hours are required on a consistent basis. Salary: $21.00/hour-This position is eligible for 10% addition to pay.Examples of Duties An employee in this position and job class is responsible for performing work of moderate difficulty. Work is performed under the supervision of a Delinquency Services Manager and reviewed through direct observation and paperwork submitted for adherence to policies and procedures. Youth Accountability Workers are responsible for monitoring, mentoring and providing supportive services to sexually harmful and delinquent youth in the community, residential treatment, or the Detention Center. Works collaboratively with Deputy Juvenile Officers. Assigned to youth who reside throughout St. Louis County and, occasionally, in neighboring counties. Contact occurs in families' homes and during group or individual outings with youth (museum, sporting event, restaurant, community service event, etc.). Provides surveillance of juveniles in the community, primarily in the evenings and on the weekends.Transports juveniles and family members to appointments or groups as needed.Provides crisis intervention and emotional support as needed.Serves as an adult role model/mentor.Notifies the Deputy Juvenile Officer or Family Centered Services for Safety Manager regarding any problems with program participants. Maintains program attendance records, writes incident reports, maintains case logs, and other related duties.Works as a member of multidisciplinary team involving Family Court staff, school officials, Children's Division, residential care staff, treatment providers, and significant members of the juvenile's family.Participates in supervisory and unit conferences when requested.Attends appropriate workshops, meetings and conferences when requested.Attends and completes a minimum of 15 hours of approved training per merit year in order to enhance professional development; remains abreast of current trends and issues in juvenile justice. Performs other related grant duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related behavioral science; or four years of responsible paraprofessional social service experience working with youth and/or families may be substituted in lieu of college; one year of experience working with youth is preferred; prior experience as a mentor or child care worker with youth is desirable; experience working with a culturally diverse population is also desirable; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. This position requires possession of a valid driver's license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation. Additional Information All applicants conditionally offered a permanent part-time, full-time, term or on-call position will be required to submit to a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory. The cost of screening will be paid by the County.
