Job DetailsKey Responsibilities:
- Client Representation: Represent clients in court hearings, trials, depositions, and mediations related to family law matters.
- Legal Consultation: Provide legal advice and counsel to clients on issues such as divorce, child custody and visitation, child and spousal support, property division, prenuptial agreements, and domestic violence.
- Case Management: Manage all phases of family law cases from initiation to resolution, including drafting and filing pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
- Negotiation: Skillfully negotiate settlements on behalf of clients, striving to achieve favorable outcomes while minimizing conflict.
- Legal Research: Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategies and stay updated on current legal trends and changes in family law.
- Client Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, keeping them informed about case developments and answering any questions or concerns.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys within the firm to ensure comprehensive and effective case management.
- Ethical Practice: Uphold the highest standards of ethical practice and maintain client confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- Bar Admission: Must be a member in good standing of the New York State Bar.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing family law in New York.
- Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Empathy and interpersonal skills for client interaction. - Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently. - Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-conflict custody cases and complex financial issues in divorce.
- Training in mediation or collaborative law.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
