Our Reach family promotes a vision that provides a collaborative team environment and allows you to utilize various resources to inspire and nurture future success for all students in Pennsylvania.Position Summary:The Family Mentor is responsible for developing a strong relationship with families, by mentoring students at-risk at Reach Cyber Charter School. The Family Mentor will work directly under the Director and Manager of Family Services. The Family Mentor will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
- Manage a caseload students throughout the entire school year;
- Report to and meet monthly with the Director and/or Manager of Family Services (This meeting can be held either virtually or in-office);
- Communicate with students as needed throughout the school year. Communication regularity will be determined by bi-weekly assessment. A minimum of monthly contact is expected. Conduct face to face and/or home visits with students and families as needed or requested, based on level of need, support required and/or lack of contact.
- Evaluate and analyze the at-risk student data that will be generated twice a week (This will allow the mentor to determine what areas to target when assisting students on their caseload);
- Develop positive relationships with both students and families on their caseload;
- Maintain a cell phone, and utilize it to contact students and families that are on the caseload on a regular and as-needed basis;
- All other duties assigned by the Manager of Family Services.
Education/Qualifications
- Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree required in education, or social work, or school counseling, or other student-centered programs
- Possesses all PDE required clearances for school-based personnel
- Experience Requirements:
- 1-3 years of related experience preferred.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, parents, students, teachers, and support staff.
- Ability to connect with a diverse group of people and build strong relationships
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals.
- High degree of flexibility
- Demonstrated ability to work well in fast paced environment
- Team player track record
- Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
Essential Functions / Duties / Responsibilities:
- Must reside in the state of Pennsylvania
- This position requires applicants to live in Philadelphia, Bucks County, Montgomery County, Delaware County or Chester County and must be comfortable traveling and working within the City of Philadelphia.
- This position will be until the end of the school year only (June 2025)
- Ability to pass the background checks required for all school employees in Pennsylvania.
- This position could include travel and could include limited overnight travel.
