StarVista's values of respect, passion, partnerships, accountability, innovation and integrity foster an agency culture of support and growth.PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:StarVista's Together For Families is a Prevention Program that is available to any family with a child 0-18 living in San Mateo County. The program focuses on preventive child welfare work aimed at reducing risk factors for child abuse and/or neglect, entry into the juvenile justice system, or need for Psychiatric Emergency Services. Services are available in several schools throughout San Mateo County.POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES:We are looking for skilled, compassionate, and self-driven individuals to join a strong team comprised of therapists and family partners who are passionate about supporting students and their families. The family partner will provide specialized case management services to parents and caregivers at three schools within San Mateo County that have been identified as having some of the most vulnerable families. In addition, the family partner will work closely with the school to identify themes for workshops and support groups that they will offer to families. When needed, the family partner also serves as a liaison, assisting families in navigating unfamiliar school systems. An individualized treatment plan is developed with each family to address each family's specific needs. RequirementsESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provide support to students and families of specific schools.
- Provide weekly community based and/or telehealth sessions to families with case management needs.
- Provide intake assessment, family support, parent education, crisis intervention, and safety planning for district families and their students.
- Collaborate with school staff and community partners to coordinate ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally informed, and holistic interventions to address family issues and enhance the students' families' strengths.
- Prepare and facilitate parent education workshops and parent support groups.
- Work closely with each school site staff and administration to reduce truancy and increase family engagement.
- Provide problem solving strategies to increase family engagement in services and school activities.
- Maintain timely and appropriate documentation of services.
- Attend meetings and mandatory trainings.
- Other duties as assigned
- Being available to work once per month during the evening/weekend as needed for specific events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Hold a BA degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Child Development or related field; or more than four years' experience working in a related field.
- Driver's License and Human Resource clearance required, including TB test, and Department of Justice LiveScan Fingerprint clearance.
- Comfortable working with school staff and diverse families
- Fluency in Spanish is required
- Experience working in school settings
- Knowledge about community resources.
